What is PDO thread lift, and what does it do?

PDO threads are made of polydioxanone, the dissolvable surgical suture material, cut with barbs along their length so that when the thread is drawn through the tissue under the skin the barbs catch and hold it in the lifted position. Placed along the direction the face has dropped, from the temple or hairline down toward the jowl or the nasolabial fold, four to six threads a side reposition the tissue a few millimetres upward on the day. Over the following six to eight months the thread dissolves, and the collagen the skin lays down along its track leaves the tissue firmer than before. Downtime after PDO thread lift, and flying home

Honestly stated: swelling and a pulling tightness along the vectors for five to seven days, a possible bruise at the entry points, occasional dimpling where a barb catches that settles within two weeks. Soft food and small expressions for three days. Fly after 48 hours. The lift is visible on the day and settles into its line at two weeks.

The horror stories online have put me off. How real are they?

Real for threads placed wrong: too shallow, so they show or dimple; too many, so the face looks pulled; in the wrong plane, so they migrate or extrude. Avoidable with the doctor's hand, a conservative count, correct depth and a face marked upright. Two to three weeks of restrictions: what does that mean day to day?
