Rejuran or a hydrating booster in Busan Seomyeon, and which your skin needs.
Both are injected into the dermis and both are called skin boosters, which is where the confusion starts. One repairs tissue over months; the other holds water for weeks. They solve different problems.
Repair against hydration — different molecules, different timelines

Skin booster is a category rather than a product, and the two things inside it work by opposite logic. Choosing between them without understanding that is why patients report a booster doing nothing — usually because they bought hydration when they needed repair.
Does This Sound Familiar?
What patients ask when comparing
I had a skin booster and the glow was gone in a month.
Which one actually improves skin quality rather than just moisture?
How many sessions before I see something?
Can I have both, or is that unnecessary?
Which suits thin, fragile skin?
All five come up most weeks, and the first one usually describes buying the wrong one. The sections below explain the difference.
What each one is made of
Rejuran
is polynucleotides — DNA fragments derived from salmon, which act as a repair signal to fibroblasts. Water glow
and Skinvive
are hyaluronic acid formulated to disperse rather than to fill, holding water in the dermis. One instructs tissue to rebuild itself; the other adds a substance that attracts and holds water.
What each one actually changes
Rejuran changes the tissue: dermal density, elasticity, barrier resilience and, over a course, how the skin behaves rather than how it looks this week. Hydrating boosters change the water content: plumpness, light reflection and fine surface lines, visibly and quickly. Both are genuine effects, and they are not substitutes for one another.
How fast does each one show?
Hydration within a week, peaking at day seven to ten. Rejuran over a three-to-four session course across two to three months, with each session adding to the last. That timeline difference is the single most common source of disappointment — patients who buy Rejuran expecting a week-one glow conclude it failed, when the mechanism was never going to produce one.
How long does each one last?
Water glow one to two months, Skinvive around six. Rejuran six to nine months after a completed course, with Rejuran Healer at eight to twelve. Hydration is not cumulative — each session lasts about as long as the last. Rejuran is cumulative, which is why maintenance after a course is less frequent than the course itself — see how long results last.
Which suits thin or fragile skin?
Rejuran, clearly. Thin skin, a compromised barrier, redness-prone skin and skin recovering from over-treatment all benefit from repair rather than from added water. This is also why Rejuran Eye
is the answer for under-eye transparency where filler would make it worse — see dark circles have three causes.
Both leave injection points that settle overnight
Why is "skin booster" such a confusing term?
Because it describes a route of administration rather than a mechanism. Anything injected into the dermis to improve skin quality gets the label, which puts repair signals, hyaluronic acid and collagen stimulators into one category despite doing three different things over three different timelines. Patients comparing prices across clinics are frequently comparing products that are not comparable — a cheaper booster is often cheaper because it is hydration rather than repair. Asking which molecule is being used, rather than accepting the category name, resolves it in one question — see skin boosters
for how the range is separated.
Where do these fit alongside other treatment?
As the skin quality layer beneath everything structural. Neither affects movement, which is botox, and neither restores volume, which is filler. Where they earn their place is the component patients describe as skin that no longer looks well regardless of how the structure sits — and that component is frequently left untreated in plans built around lines and contour. A face treated for laxity and volume with nothing done for skin quality often reads as improved but not rested, which is the specific gap boosters close.
Which suits a specific date?
Hydration, without question. Water glow
at ten to fourteen days before an event lands its peak on the day with injection points long settled — the best-timed treatment available for that purpose. Rejuran booked three weeks before a wedding delivers one session of a course, which is a poor use of both the money and the window — see timing around an event.
Can they be combined?
Yes, and it is a common pairing over a year rather than in one session. Rejuran course first to build density, hydration as maintenance every couple of months afterwards. Doing both in a single sitting doubles the injection points without adding proportional benefit — and the effects are easier to attribute when they are separated.
What about the newer PDLLA options?
Juvelook and Collaume
sit in a third category — collagen stimulators rather than repair signals or hydration. They produce a longer-lasting density change at twelve to eighteen months, build over three months, and suit patients wanting a more durable result than Rejuran with less frequency. They are not interchangeable with either of the above, and the choice depends on how much change is wanted.
Which would we suggest first?
Depends entirely on the complaint. Skin that looks flat and tired but is fundamentally sound: hydration. Skin that is thin, reactive, aged or recovering: Rejuran. Skin with both, which is most patients past thirty-five: Rejuran course first, hydration afterwards as maintenance. The answer follows the examination rather than the price list — see dull skin and the glass skin idea.
Our Medical Team
Who will actually treat you at JRYN Seomyeon?
A doctor, in person, every time — never a nurse or a coordinator. JRYN Seomyeon has three doctors, and the clinic was founded by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, who still consults here. What you actually need is decided during the consultation after your skin is examined, not from a fixed package chosen in advance.
Three doctors, one standard of care.
Every treatment plan at JRYN Seomyeon is decided and performed in person by one of our doctors — led by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, founder of JRYN Dermatology.
From the Founder
The consultation is the treatment.
Most patients arrive asking for a specific treatment. My job is to check whether it is the right one for what they actually have. Getting that wrong is the most common mistake I correct.

Before You Book
Questions patients ask first.
Yes, small raised points at each injection site that settle overnight. No make-up until the following morning for either. Treating in the evening is the usual advice.
The polynucleotides are highly purified salmon DNA fragments rather than protein, and reactions are rare. Mention any fish allergy at consultation so it is discussed rather than assumed.
Similar, and both need topical numbing. Rejuran is slightly more uncomfortable for some patients given the number of points — see numbing and anaesthesia.
Yes, with a gap of about a week rather than the same session. Boosters after laser support barrier recovery, which is a common sequence in a skin quality plan.
Hydration is cheaper per session and shorter-lasting; Rejuran costs more upfront as a course and holds longer. Per month of effect they are closer than they look — figures are on the price list.
No, and stopping does not leave skin worse than before. Both fade back toward baseline rather than below it, and a completed Rejuran course leaves a genuine improvement that decays slowly.
Yes, and the same distinctions apply. Male skin is thicker, so hydration effects can be slightly less visible while repair effects are unchanged — see skin treatments for men.
Rejuran, since barrier repair helps and the formulation is not occlusive. Hydrating boosters are also fine — neither causes breakouts, though injection points can look like small spots for a day.
Doctor-led planning across six categories. Foreign patients pay the same as local patients — what changes a final figure is units and area, never nationality.
