What is V-OLET, and which fat pocket is it for in Busan?
V-OLET
is a deoxycholic acid injection approved by the Korean MFDS specifically for moderate to severe fat under the chin. Deoxycholic acid is a bile acid, the molecule the body makes to emulsify dietary fat; injected into a fat pocket at pharmaceutical concentration it disrupts the fat cell membrane so the cell ruptures, and the debris is cleared by the body over the following weeks. The cells destroyed do not regenerate. It is the same class of drug as the US-approved Kybella, and it is the strongest fat-dissolving injection per cc on the list at Boom Dermatology, which is also why it swells more and is dosed more carefully than the contour injection.
In Seomyeon the doctor assigns V-OLET for a defined, stubborn double chin
that the standard contour injection
would take many sessions to move, and for patients who want fewer sessions and accept more swelling per session. Two to four cc per session, two to four sessions four weeks apart. For small body pockets off-label use is discussed at the consultation; for a small chin that makes fat look worse, chin filler
first.

A photo of the area in daylight and what bothers you. The doctor replies with injection or Onda, the likely unit count and the VAT-included price.

Numbing cream for injections; nothing needed for Onda.
4
Treatment by the doctor
Injections fanned through the pocket; Onda passed over the area in thirty minutes.

6
Four-week review
A photo and a re-pinch; the next session is set or the course called done.

Questions, answered properly
Is this the same as Kybella?
The same drug class, deoxycholic acid, with a Korean MFDS approval for the same indication, submental fat. The concentration and the protocol are set per product; the mechanism, rupturing fat cells so they are cleared, is identical. At Boom Dermatology it is the injection with a specific approval for the double chin, which is the reason to choose it over a blend.
Why does it swell more than the contour injection?
Because it does more per cc: ruptured fat cells trigger an inflammatory clearance, and the stronger the rupture the more swelling. The trade is fewer sessions for more days of swelling per session; patients choose it knowingly.
How many cc, and how many sessions?
Two cc for a moderate pocket, four for a full one, two to four sessions four weeks apart, with the re-pinch at each deciding the next. The units are written at the consultation at our Seomyeon skin clinic.
Is the numbness normal?
Yes, for a few days to a few weeks, from the inflammation around the small sensory nerves in the area; it resolves. The nerve that moves the lower lip is mapped and avoided, which is why the grid is marked and the injection is the doctor's.
Can it be used on the body?
Off-label, for small pockets, and discussed case by case; the approval is for the chin, and for body pockets Olifit, Nuviju or the contour injection are usually the better-tolerated choice. Patients at Boom Dermatology in Busan are told which before the quote.
