What is Radiesse, and what does it do?
Radiesse
is calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a carboxymethylcellulose gel, the same mineral as bone, in a form the body slowly absorbs. It does two things in one syringe: the gel gives shape on the day, like a firm filler, and over the following months the microspheres stimulate collagen around them, so when the gel absorbs the structure stays. It is firmer than hyaluronic acid, which makes it the product of choice for lines that need lifting rather than softening: the jawline, the chin, the cheekbone, the backs of the hands.
At Boom Dermatology in Seomyeon, Radiesse is what we suggest for a jawline that has lost its edge, a chin that needs projection, and hands that show veins and tendons; diluted, it is also used as a collagen stimulator across the lower face. It is not for lips or the under-eye, which want HA filler
or a booster. For a result that lasts longer still, Ellansé; for a gradual whole-face rebuild, Sculptra.
What Busan patients ask before Radiesse
I want a sharper jawline without surgery, and I do not want it to look puffy.
Is this a filler or a collagen stimulator? Everyone describes it differently.
Can it be dissolved if I do not like it?
My hands give my age away more than my face.
How long does one syringe actually last?
All of these come up most weeks at our Seomyeon skin clinic. The page answers them in order.

The visit
What happens at a Radiesse session in Seomyeon?
This is how a Radiesse visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.
1
Message first
Front and side photos in daylight and what has changed in your face. The doctor replies with the product, the vials or cc, and the VAT-included price.
2
Consultation
Volume loss is separated from sagging and from skin quality; the plan and the dose go on your record.
3
Numbing cream, twenty to thirty minutes
Topical anaesthetic; the product is mixed with lidocaine where the protocol allows.
4
Injection by the doctor
Deeper, fewer points than a booster, by cannula where possible. Twenty to forty minutes.
5
Out the door
Mild swelling for a day or two; massage instructions where the product needs them. No sauna for a day.
6
Six-week review
We message you for a photo when the collagen has started to show; the next session, if planned, is set then.
How does Boom Dermatology dose Radiesse?
Radiesse is dosed by syringe and placed deep, on the bone for contour or diluted under the skin for stimulation; the dose is what the line needs, not the whole syringe.
On the bone, by cannula
Supraperiosteal along the jawline and chin, where firmness reads as structure rather than swelling.
One syringe, most plans
1.5cc covers a chin, a cheekbone pair or one side of the jawline; two for the full jaw.
Diluted for the hands
Mixed with lidocaine and saline and fanned under the skin of both hands from one syringe.

Questions, answered properly
Is Radiesse a filler or a collagen stimulator?
Both, which is why it is described two ways. The gel is a filler: it gives shape the moment it goes in. The calcium microspheres in it are a stimulator: over three months the skin builds collagen around them, so the result outlasts the gel. Used undiluted on the bone it behaves like a firm filler; diluted under the skin it behaves like a stimulator. At Boom Dermatology the doctor tells you which use your plan is.
Can Radiesse be dissolved?
No. There is no enzyme for calcium hydroxylapatite the way hyaluronidase dissolves HA. That is why it is placed conservatively, deep, by cannula, in areas where firmness is wanted, and never in the lips or under the eye. If you want a result you can undo, HA filler is the right choice and we will say so.
Will a Radiesse jawline look puffy?
Not when it is placed on the bone. Puffiness comes from filler sitting in the soft tissue above the mandible; Radiesse is laid along the bone edge itself, where it reads as a sharper line rather than a fuller face. Swelling for two or three days is normal and is not the result.
How does Radiesse treat the hands?
Diluted with saline and lidocaine and fanned under the skin of the back of each hand from a single entry point, so veins and tendons are cushioned and the skin thickens over three months. One syringe usually covers both hands at our Seomyeon skin clinic.
How long does one syringe last?
Twelve to eighteen months. The gel absorbs over the first few months and the collagen it stimulated carries the result after that; most patients repeat once a year to eighteen months.
