What does bidirectional actually change?

Where the hold comes from. A one-way cog thread pulls everything toward its anchor at the entry; if the tissue there is thin, the anchor is weak and the thread slips. A two-way thread grips at both ends and holds the tissue between them, so it works on a lean face and needs one entry instead of two.
