What is PicoHi, and what does it do?

PicoHi is a picosecond laser made in Korea with 1064 nm and 532 nm, and the platform at Boom Dermatology with the most protocols. Premium toning is the low-fluence 1064 nm pass across the face for tone and shallow pigment. Dual toning adds the 532 nm wavelength in the same session for freckles and surface spots alongside the background pass. PicoHi Fraxel sends the same picosecond pulses through a fractional lens to create micro-zones of remodelling under an intact surface, for texture, pores and shallow scars with a day or two of redness. Picosecond pulses shatter pigment with less heat than Q-switched, which is the safety margin on Asian and melasma-prone skin.

In Seomyeon, PicoHi is the picosecond platform alongside Picolo; the two are interchangeable for toning and chosen by protocol when they are not. The dual session suits a freckled, uneven face; the fractional pass suits pigment with texture; pico toning as a course is where most pigment plans start. Patients who ask for PicoCare, PicoPlus or Discovery are shown what we use instead.

What Busan patients ask before PicoHi

  • PicoHi or Picolo?
  • Can toning and Fraxel be done on the same day?
  • How many sessions for an uneven, freckled face?

All of these come up most weeks at our Seomyeon skin clinic. The page answers them in order.

03 The visit

What happens at a PicoHi session in Seomyeon?

This is how a PicoHi visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.

1

Message first

A daylight photo without make-up and what bothers you. The doctor replies with the device, the likely session count and the VAT-included price.

2

Consultation

Pigment is separated from redness, melasma is screened for, previous lasers and sun exposure are asked. Device and settings go on your record.

3

Cleanse and cool

Make-up off, eye shields on; cooling gel or numbing cream depending on the device.

4

Test pulses, then the pass

A few test pulses on the jawline to read the response, then the full pass by the doctor.

5

Out the door

Sunscreen before you leave; make-up from the same evening for toning, the next day for vascular work.

6

Review and rhythm

A photo at two to four weeks sets the interval; a review at the fifth session decides continue, stop or switch.

How does Boom Dermatology dose PicoHi?

PicoHi is dosed by protocol, wavelength and fluence below the whitening endpoint; Fraxel density is set to the texture and all of it goes on your record.

1064 nm picosecond

The background pass for tone with little heat.

532 nm in dual sessions

Targeted on freckles and surface spots; they darken, then flake within a week.

Fractional lens

Micro-zones of remodelling under an intact surface for texture and pores.

07 Questions, answered properly

Premium, dual, Fraxel: which session do I need?

Premium toning for a dull face without defined spots; dual toning when freckles or surface spots sit on that dull background; Fraxel when the problem includes texture, pores or shallow scars. Many courses at Boom Dermatology mix them: dual sessions early to clear the spots, premium toning after to hold the tone, a Fraxel pass when the pigment is under control.

PicoHi or Picolo?

Interchangeable for toning, both Korean picosecond platforms at ₩165,000. PicoHi has the dual-toning protocol at ₩220,000, which Picolo delivers as targeted pulses within its premium session; Picolo Fraxel at ₩330,000 is the stronger fractional pass against PicoHi Fraxel at ₩275,000. The doctor at our Seomyeon skin clinic picks by protocol, and nothing changes in price if a session moves between them.

Can toning and Fraxel be done on the same day?

Yes: the toning pass first, the fractional pass after, ₩495,000 for dual plus Fraxel. The downtime is the Fraxel's one to two days; the toning adds nothing. It is the one-visit answer for pigment and texture together.

How many sessions for an uneven, freckled face?

Three to five dual-toning sessions three to four weeks apart, freckles darkening and flaking after each, with a fixed-light photo at the third. Sun protection afterwards decides whether they stay away; a maintenance session every two or three months holds the tone.

Is there any downtime?

None for either toning protocol beyond an hour's flush; one to two days of redness and a fine grid for the fractional pass. Patients at Boom Dermatology in Busan book toning the day before a flight without trouble; Fraxel wants a spare day.
