A hood that rests on the lashes, no: that is a blepharoplasty, and we will say so at the first consultation rather than sell a device to a surgical lid.

How close to the eye can these machines safely work?

To within a few millimetres of the lash line, with corneal shields in place and the doctor controlling the handpiece; eye Thermage and Eye XERF are built for the lid with small tips for exactly that.
