Skin whitening and brightening in Busan Seomyeon
What "whitening" means at a clinic, honestly: evening the tone and clearing the dullness and pigment that make skin look darker than it is, with a brightening care session, a glutathione drip at ₩55,000, and the toning course that does the real work. Nothing changes the colour you were born with, and we say so. Supervised by the doctor at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic one minute from Seomyeon Station.

Start here — direct answer
What does skin whitening actually mean at a clinic, does glutathione work, and what does it cost in Busan?
Whitening
is the word Korean clinics use for brightening: making skin look clearer and more even by removing what darkens it, dullness from dead surface cells, uneven pigment from sun, the marks acne leaves, a tan that will not fade. It does not and cannot change the melanin level you were born with, and any clinic that promises that is selling. What works is a combination: a brightening care session
, a gentle peel, a vitamin C and tranexamic acid infusion and LDM, for the surface; a glutathione drip
, the antioxidant that modestly reduces melanin production and is Korea's most-requested "whitening injection", at ₩55,000; and the toning course, which lifts the pigment already in the skin and is where the visible change comes from.
At Boom Dermatology brightening is honest: care sessions and drips as support, lasers as treatment, sunscreen as the thing that decides whether any of it lasts. A Haeundae tan fades faster with a peel and toning; sun spots and melasma
have their own plans; a visitor who wants to leave brighter in a week gets a care session, a drip and a toning session, and the honest expectation that the course is the rest. Price confirmed at the consultation for care, VAT included; the drip is listed.

03
The visit
What happens at a brightening session in Seomyeon?
This is how a brightening visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.
1
Message first
What your skin is doing this week, any treatment it is recovering from, and your dates. The doctor replies with the session and the price.
2
Skin check
Type, reactivity and congestion are read; the session is set and anything a care session cannot fix is named.
3
Cleanse
Make-up off; the skin prepared.
4
The session
By the protocol for your skin; thirty to sixty minutes.
5
Out the door
No downtime; sunscreen; make-up from the next hour.
6
Rhythm
Every two to four weeks for a course, or once before an event; timed around lasers and boosters.
How does Boom Dermatology approach brightening?
Three principles, stated before anything is sold.
Even, not lighter
The goal is clear, even tone; natural colour is not changed and is not a target.
Pigment by type
Dullness wants a peel; sun spots want toning; melasma wants the slow plan; a tan wants both and patience.
Support around treatment
Care sessions and drips between toning sessions, not instead of them.

Questions, answered properly
Does IV glutathione really do anything, or is it wellness theatre?
Something modest, honestly stated. Glutathione is an antioxidant that shifts melanin production toward the lighter form; over a course of several drips, with sunscreen, skin reads slightly brighter in some people, and the effect fades when the drips stop. It is support, not treatment; the visible change comes from toning. At Boom Dermatology it is ₩55,000 and sold as what it is.
My tan from Haeundae will not fade. Can this speed it up?
Yes: a brightening peel lifts the tanned surface cells, a toning session shatters the pigment beneath, and sunscreen stops it being replaced. Two to three weeks instead of two to three months. A tan that lingers into patches may be early sun spots, which the doctor checks.
How is this different from pico toning for pigmentation?
Toning is the treatment: a laser that breaks up pigment in the skin over a course. Brightening care and drips are the support around it: the surface cleared, the barrier calmed, melanin production nudged. Our Seomyeon skin clinic does not sell care as a substitute for the laser.
Can skin whitening change my natural skin colour?
No. Nothing offered here or anywhere safe changes the melanin level you were born with; whitening at a clinic means clearing what has darkened the skin beyond its natural tone. We say that at the first message, and we do not treat patients who want something else.
How many sessions, and does it last?
A care session and a drip before an event; a course of care, drips and toning over two to three months for a lasting change; sunscreen every day after, which is what decides it. Patients at Boom Dermatology in Busan who keep the sunscreen keep the tone.
