What is Clarity, and what does it do?
Clarity
(Lutronic Clarity II) is a long-pulse laser with two wavelengths. 1064 nm Nd:YAG
in long pulses heats and closes vessels that sit deeper than a 532 nm laser reaches, the nasal vessels and the background redness of rosacea, and is the safest wavelength on Asian skin. 755 nm alexandrite
is absorbed by melanin: hair follicles, surface pigment, freckles on lighter skin. The platform tracks skin temperature during the pass, so energy is adjusted to the skin in real time. It is the device at Boom Dermatology that covers redness, pigment and hair without changing machines.
In Seomyeon we use Clarity for deeper and nasal vessels, for the diffuse redness of rosacea over a course, for a gentle 1064 nm tone-and-pore pass, and for laser hair removal. For fine surface capillaries beside brown spots, Excel V+
is the more precise tool; for diffuse sun damage, BBL Hero. Patients who ask for Vbeam are shown what we use instead.

The visit
What happens at a Clarity session in Seomyeon?
This is how a Clarity visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.
1
Message first
A daylight photo without make-up and what bothers you. The doctor replies with the device, the likely session count and the VAT-included price.
2
Consultation
Pigment is separated from redness, melasma is screened for, previous lasers and sun exposure are asked. Device and settings go on your record.
3
Cleanse and cool
Make-up off, eye shields on; cooling gel or numbing cream depending on the device.
4
Test pulses, then the pass
A few test pulses on the jawline to read the response, then the full pass by the doctor.
5
Out the door
Sunscreen before you leave; make-up from the same evening for toning, the next day for vascular work.
6
Review and rhythm
A photo at two to four weeks sets the interval; a review at the fifth session decides continue, stop or switch.
How does Boom Dermatology dose Clarity?
Clarity is dosed by wavelength, pulse width and fluence with live temperature feedback; the plan is written per area.
1064 nm for depth
Long pulses that heat and close deeper vessels; the default wavelength for Asian skin.
755 nm for melanin
Hair follicles and surface pigment on lighter skin, after test pulses.
Temperature-guided energy
The handpiece reads skin temperature during the pass and the doctor adjusts fluence to it; settings go on your record.

Questions, answered properly
Clarity or Excel V for my redness?
Depth. Fine, bright surface capillaries and red spots, especially beside brown spots: Excel V+, which reaches them at 532 nm and treats the brown in the same pass. Deeper, larger vessels, the thickened redness on the nose, and the background flush of rosacea: Clarity, whose long 1064 nm pulses heat and close vessels that 532 nm passes over. Many patients at Boom Dermatology have both patterns and get both devices across a course.
What does long-pulse mean?
The pulse lasts milliseconds rather than nanoseconds, so the energy heats the target gently and completely rather than shattering it. Vessels and hair follicles need that slow heating to close; pigment needs the fast shatter of a Q-switched or picosecond pulse. That is why Clarity is a vessel-and-hair machine first and a toning machine second.
Can one machine really do hair, redness and pigment?
Yes, because the three targets absorb the two wavelengths differently: 755 nm for melanin in hair and freckles, 1064 nm for haemoglobin in vessels and for safe heating of darker skin. The doctor at our Seomyeon skin clinic changes wavelength, pulse and spot per target in the same session.
Is it safe on Asian skin and on darker skin?
1064 nm is the safe wavelength on all skin types and is the default here. 755 nm is used on lighter Asian skin after test pulses and avoided on darker skin, where it risks post-inflammatory darkening. The live temperature feedback is the extra safeguard; settings are on your record.
How many sessions for rosacea, and does it come back?
Three to five sessions four to six weeks apart calm the background redness and close the visible vessels; rosacea itself is controlled, not cured, so a maintenance session once or twice a year keeps it. Patients at Boom Dermatology in Busan are told that before the first session, with the triggers that bring it back.
