What is Sunny, and what does it do?

Sunny is a Korean ultrasound lifting platform designed around comfort. It focuses ultrasound energy to the deeper layers of the face the way HIFU does, creating points of heat that make the tissue contract and rebuild collagen, but it fires faster and with a smoother sensation than first-generation devices, so most patients do not need numbing cream. At Boom Dermatology we run two protocols on it at the same price: the standard Sunny handpiece for cheeks and jawline, and the Quaysha protocol, which uses a different applicator for a softer, more diffuse heating on thinner areas.

In Seomyeon we suggest Sunny to patients who want a mid-priced ultrasound lift between Shurink and Ultherapy: more energy and comfort than the entry device, without the imaging and price of the flagship. It suits a softening jawline, early jowls and the cheek line, and pairs with radiofrequency when the skin layer needs tightening too.

Nothing visible. A mild tenderness when pressing the jaw for a day, occasionally a little puffiness the next morning. Work, travel and make-up are fine the same day.

Sunny or Shurink: what does the extra ₩385,000 buy?

More energy per shot and a more comfortable session, which together mean a stronger, longer-lasting lift from the same 300 shots. Shurink remains the right first HIFU and the right maintenance; Sunny is for the patient who has done a light HIFU, liked the direction, and wants more without moving to Ultherapy pricing.

What is the difference between the Sunny and the Quaysha handpiece?

The pattern of heating. Sunny delivers focused points for a defined lift on the jawline and cheeks; Quaysha spreads the energy more evenly, which suits thinner skin, sensitive patients and areas where a focused point would be too much. Both are 300 shots at ₩550,000; the doctor chooses at the consultation and sometimes uses both in one session.

Does Sunny hurt?

Less than classic HIFU. Most patients at our Seomyeon skin clinic describe a warm pressure with occasional brief aches over the jawbone and do not use numbing cream. It is available if you want it.

Will Sunny define my jawline, or just tighten skin?

Jawline. Ultrasound works on the deeper layers that hold the jawline up; for surface skin firmness the right tool is radiofrequency. Many patients do Sunny and Oligio in the same visit, ultrasound first.

How often should I repeat it?

Every six months for a steady result, or once a year if you alternate with Shurink. Results build for two to three months after each session, so judge it at month three, not at week one.
