What is stem cell therapy at a skin clinic in Busan, and what does it actually contain?

Not living stem cells. In Korea, as in most countries, injecting cultured stem cells is a licensed clinical-trial therapy, and what a clinic in Busan injects under the name is the secretome : the growth factors, cytokines and exosomes that stem cells release in culture, harvested and prepared for injection. That is what Miracell and Y-Cell are, and Boom Dermatology says so on the first line of every page rather than letting the name sell something the vial does not contain. The secretome is the part with the signalling activity: in the skin it prompts the patient's own fibroblasts to make collagen, calms inflammation and improves recovery, which is the mechanism of the exosome and Rejuran boosters at a higher concentration and price. The skin protocol, three sessions, is for skin that has thinned, dulled or lost its recovery, and for patients who have done the booster courses and want the next tier; the scalp protocol is the same signals across thinning hair; the systemic infusion is the regenerative protocol patients travel for, with early evidence, no disease treated and nothing promised that the studies do not support.

The other honest line is about who should have it. Most faces at our Busan skin clinic are served by a booster course at a fifth of the price, and the doctor says so; the stem cell protocols are the tier above, for a reason, not a default. Cancer, active or in the history without oncology clearance, is the firm exclusion, because growth signals are not something to give a tumour, and the doctor, an internal medicine specialist, screens for it and for infection, immunosuppression and pregnancy before anything is drawn up.

02 Choose — By goal

What are you hoping it does?

Pick the aim and the doctor names the protocol, or the better tool, at a consultation at our Busan skin clinic.

Thinned, dull skin

Cheeks, under the eyes, neck, hands.

Recovery around lasers

Skin that heals slowly from a course.

Thinning hair

The scalp protocol.

The systemic protocol

Inflammation, recovery, wellbeing; early evidence.

Not sure it is worth it

A booster course may be the honest answer.

Volume, not thickness

A face that has emptied wants a stimulator or filler, not this.

04 The visit

What does a stem cell visit in Seomyeon look like?

1

Message first

What you want it for, any conditions and medications, your dates. The doctor replies with what the preparation is, the protocol, and whether a booster would do.

2

Screening and consultation

Cancer history, infection, immunosuppression, pregnancy; what the evidence supports, on your record in English.

3

The session

Numbing cream and microinjection or microneedle for skin or scalp; a monitored infusion of sixty to ninety minutes for the systemic arm.

4

Review and course

A fixed-light photo at four weeks; three skin sessions four to six weeks apart; the systemic protocol by the doctor's plan.

Is this real stem cell therapy or marketing?

It is a real preparation with a real, modest mechanism, sold under a name that promises more. The living cells are a clinical-trial therapy; the secretome is what clinics inject, and its effect on skin, thicker, calmer, better-recovering, is the booster effect at a higher concentration. Boom Dermatology does not use the word "cure", does not treat a disease with it, and tells every patient what the vial contains; the clinics in Busan that promise regeneration of organs are selling the name.

When is a booster the better buy?

Most of the time. A Rejuran or exosome course at ₩220,000 a session thickens and evens most faces, and the stem cell protocols are the tier above for skin that has thinned a great deal, recovers poorly, or has already had the boosters. The doctor says which tier you are at the first visit, and sends you to the booster when that is the honest answer; a clinic that starts everyone at the top tier is not reading the skin.

What about the IV protocol?

The systemic infusion is the one patients travel for and the one with the least evidence: small studies and reports of less inflammation, better recovery and a sense of wellbeing, and no treatment of any disease. Our Seomyeon skin clinic offers it on those terms, screens for the conditions that rule it out, and has an internal medicine specialist set and monitor it, which is the minimum a biological infusion deserves. Anyone promising more should be asked for the study.

Who stem cell therapy suits, and who should start with a booster or not at all

Good candidates

  • Skin that has thinned, dulled or lost its recovery with age, sun or weight loss
  • Patients who have completed booster courses and want the next tier
  • Recovery support around aggressive laser courses
  • Thinning hair wanting the scalp protocol alongside a diagnosis
  • Patients who want the systemic protocol explained honestly before deciding

We will suggest waiting, or something else

  • Active cancer or a history of it without oncology clearance; the firm exclusion
  • Active infection, autoimmune disease on immunosuppressants, pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Expecting a disease to be treated or an organ regenerated
  • A face that has emptied, which wants volume, not thickness
  • Anyone a booster course would serve, which the doctor says

How does Boom Dermatology run stem cell therapy?

Three rules, applied at every visit at our Busan skin clinic and written on your record.

What it is, said first

Secretome, not live cells; the preparation and lot on your record; the evidence stated, not inflated.

Screened and monitored

Cancer, infection, immunosuppression and pregnancy asked; every infusion set and monitored by an internal medicine specialist.

Tier, not default

The booster course named when it is the better buy; nothing sold as a package.

No protocol here treats a disease, and none is offered as if it did.

05 Combine — Same day or spaced

Can stem cell protocols be combined with other treatments in one Busan visit?

Works well in the same visit

  • A skin session after a laser or microneedling the same day, as a recovery protocol
  • The skin and systemic arms in one visit
  • A skin protocol alternating with a booster course across months
  • A drip alongside the infusion when the doctor sets it

Better spaced apart

  • Filler or a stimulator into the same area the same day
  • A skin session during an active breakout or infection
  • Any protocol without the screening that visit
  • Two infusions in one day

Tell us your dates and what else you are planning. Most patients at our Seomyeon skin clinic pair a skin session with a laser on the same day.

06 Downtime — And flying home

Downtime after stem cell therapy, and flying home

Pinpricks and mild redness for a day or two after a skin or scalp session; none after an infusion, which is monitored by a nurse with the doctor in the building. Fly the same evening. Skin builds over four to eight weeks after each session.
