Getting Started · Seomyeon, Busan · Foreigner-Friendly

A first treatment plan in Busan Seomyeon, and where it makes sense to start.

For someone who has never had anything done, the choice is not which treatment is best but which teaches you most about how your face responds. That reasoning produces a different first appointment than a menu does.

Most first-time patients arrive having read about six treatments and hoping to be told which one. The more useful framing is which single treatment gives you information as well as a result, because everything after it is easier to decide with that behind you.

Does This Sound Familiar?

What first-time patients say

  • I have never had anything done and I do not know where to begin.
  • I am worried about looking obviously treated.
  • How do I know if I will even like the result?
  • Should I do several things at once or one at a time?
  • What if I regret it?

All five come up most weeks, and the last one has a structural answer rather than a reassurance. The sections below work through it.

Start with something reversible

The single most useful principle for a first treatment. Hyaluronic acid filler dissolves within a day or two if you dislike it. Botox wears off entirely in three to four months. Neither commits you to anything, which removes most of what makes a first decision difficult — see filler or a collagen stimulator for why stimulators are a poor first choice.

Start with one thing

Because a single treatment tells you what it did. Three at once produces a result you cannot attribute — you learn that your face improved without learning which component produced it, which makes the second visit no better informed than the first. One treatment, assessed at the correct interval, is worth more than three for the same money on a first visit.

Start conservatively

Half a syringe rather than a full one, the lower end of a unit range, an adequate rather than maximal shot count. Adding at the two-week review is straightforward; subtracting is not. Patients treated to the maximum on a first visit have no route back for months, and the result they are living with was chosen before anyone knew how their tissue responds.

Which treatment for which concern

Lines that appear only on movement: wrinkle botox. A flat or hollow midface: cheek filler. Early laxity: energy lifting. Uneven tone or sun damage: toning. Dull, thin or tired skin: a booster. A wide jaw from muscle: jaw botox. Each of those is a first treatment that answers a specific question.

Why does a first treatment teach you something?

Because faces respond differently in ways no examination fully predicts. How long a dose lasts on you, how much you swell, whether you bruise from almost nothing, how strongly your collagen responds — all of these are individual, all of them are recorded, and every one of them makes the second treatment more precise than the first. That is why a conservative first session is not a cautious version of the real thing; it is the round that produces the information the real plan is built from — see how long results last.

What should the first year not include?

Anything irreversible, anything requiring a course you cannot finish, and anything with downtime you have not planned for. That rules out collagen stimulators and threads as opening treatments — both are good treatments and neither is a good first one. It also rules out starting a multi-session pigment course on a short trip, which delivers one session and a plan rather than a result. None of those are permanent exclusions; they are simply better decisions made second.

What suits the most cautious patient

Energy lifting, usually. Nothing is injected, nothing remains in the face, there is no downtime at any point, and the effect fades gradually rather than requiring removal. It also tells you how your collagen responds, which informs everything afterwards. For patients who want a change but are uneasy about injectables, it is the natural entry point.

What a sensible first year looks like

One treatment, a review at the correct interval, and a decision made with that behind you. If it worked, repeat or extend. If it did nothing, that is information rather than a loss — it usually means the layer treated was not the one producing the appearance — see why faces age. Most patients settle into a pattern by the second year rather than the first.

How to avoid looking treated

Conservative dosing and time. Almost everything that reads as obviously done comes from too much placed at once — an overfilled midface, a still forehead, lips beyond their proportion. Building gradually across two or three visits produces a result people describe as looking well rather than as having had something done, and it is slower by design.

What if I regret it?

Filler dissolves within a day or two and reassessment happens a fortnight later. Botox resolves fully in three to four months and nothing is permanent. Lifting fades as collagen turns over. Nothing in the reversible-first approach leaves you with a decision you cannot revisit — which is exactly why it is the recommended starting point rather than the most impressive one.

What a first consultation should give you

A plan you can restate in your own words, the unit count or volume for what is proposed, an idea of what happens if you decline, and a clear sense of which layer is being treated. If any of those is missing, ask before agreeing — a first treatment chosen without them is a treatment chosen from a menu — see how a consultation works.

Our Medical Team

Who will actually treat you at JRYN Seomyeon?

A doctor, in person, every time — never a nurse or a coordinator. JRYN Seomyeon has three doctors, and the clinic was founded by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, who still consults here. What you actually need is decided during the consultation after your skin is examined, not from a fixed package chosen in advance.

Three doctors, one standard of care.

Every treatment plan at JRYN Seomyeon is decided and performed in person by one of our doctors — led by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, founder of JRYN Dermatology.

From the Founder

The consultation is the treatment.

Most patients arrive asking for a specific treatment. My job is to check whether it is the right one for what they actually have. Getting that wrong is the most common mistake I correct.

Before You Book

Questions patients ask first.

No — it depends entirely on what is bothering you and which layer is producing it. Anyone recommending the same first treatment to everyone is describing their inventory.

Less than you might expect. Wrinkle botox from ₩10,000 and toning from ₩20,000 are both genuine starting points — see the price list.

For botox, filler and toning, yes at the correct interval. For collagen-based treatments, one adequate session produces a real result at three months — see how collagen treatment works.

Yes. A single no-downtime treatment fits any trip, and reversible options mean nothing is decided permanently while you are away from home — see the five-day itinerary.

Entirely your business. Practically, a conservative first treatment is rarely noticed as treatment by anyone, which is usually the point.

Ask why, and ask what happens if you decline. A redirection based on examination is usually correct and frequently costs less than what you came in for — see dark circles have three causes.

Depends what is there. In the mid-twenties usually nothing structural, and being told so is a normal outcome — see what matters at 25, 35 and 45.

No. Stopping returns you to baseline rather than below it — nothing about treatment creates a dependency — see how long results last.
