What is E-MAX, and what does it do?
E-MAX
is the acne session at Boom Dermatology for the oily, congested face: the T-zone that shines by noon, the blackheads on the nose, the closed comedones on the cheeks and the enlarged pores between them. The pass delivers energy to the sebaceous glands and the pore walls across the whole face, so oil output falls, pores tighten and fewer lesions form, with the gentle, no-downtime profile of a toning session. It is the procedural partner to a retinoid and extraction
on the acne plan, and it carries over into the oily skin
and pore
plans once the acne is quiet.
In Seomyeon the doctor assigns E-MAX for comedonal and oily acne at ₩275,000 a session or ₩1,100,000 for five; Helen
₩220,000 for acne that is inflamed rather than congested; TRM
where texture is the larger problem; skin Botox
for oil that needs quietening for a season.

The visit
What happens at an E-MAX session in Seomyeon?
This is how an E-MAX visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.
1
Message first
A daylight photo without make-up and what bothers you. The doctor replies with the device, the likely session count and the VAT-included price.
2
Consultation
Pigment is separated from redness, melasma is screened for, previous lasers and sun exposure are asked. Device and settings go on your record.
3
Cleanse and cool
Make-up off, eye shields on; cooling gel or numbing cream depending on the device.
4
Test pulses, then the pass
A few test pulses on the jawline to read the response, then the full pass by the doctor.
5
Out the door
Sunscreen before you leave; make-up from the same evening for toning, the next day for vascular work.
6
Review and rhythm
A photo at two to four weeks sets the interval; a review at the fifth session decides continue, stop or switch.
How does Boom Dermatology dose E-MAX?
E-MAX is dosed by energy and pass count to the oil pattern; the doctor sets it per visit and writes it on your record.
Glands and pore walls
Energy to the sebaceous glands and the dermis around each pore across the face.
No downtime
A flush for an hour; make-up the same day.
Two to three weeks, five times
Oil falls across the course; a retinoid at night holds it.

Questions, answered properly
What does E-MAX do for oily skin that a cleanser cannot?
Reach the gland. A cleanser removes the oil already on the surface and the gland makes more; E-MAX delivers energy to the glands and the pore walls, so output falls and pores tighten over a course. At Boom Dermatology it is paired with a nightly retinoid, which shrinks the gland for the long term.
Will it shrink my pores?
Tighten them, over a course, and keep them tighter while oil is controlled; pores are a structure and are maintained, not cured. For pores that have slumped open with age the pore plan
adds RF microneedling.
Does it replace extraction?
No; it reduces how much there is to extract. Blocked pores already there are cleared by the doctor at our Seomyeon skin clinic; E-MAX and the retinoid are what stop them refilling.
How many sessions, and when will I see less shine?
Five, two to three weeks apart; less shine by the second or third session, fewer new comedones across the course, with the retinoid carrying it after.
E-MAX or skin Botox for oil?
E-MAX when oil comes with congestion and acne; skin Botox when the goal is a matte T-zone for a season, fastest and without a course. Patients at Boom Dermatology in Busan with both problems often have skin Botox once and an E-MAX course alongside.
