Is my wide jaw muscle or bone?

Why does jaw Botox take six weeks to show, and does the first round "do nothing"?

Because the effect is muscle shrinkage, not relaxation alone. The toxin relaxes the masseter within two weeks, but the muscle only shrinks once it has stopped working hard for a month or more. The first round does work; it is just judged too early by patients expecting a wrinkle-Botox timeline. By the six-week review the change is clear, and the second round builds on it.

Will jaw Botox make my cheeks look hollow or sag?

On a face with little cheek fat, reducing the masseter can make the lower cheek look flatter, which is why the doctor doses conservatively on thin faces and sometimes suggests a smaller dose over more rounds. Sagging is rare at correct doses; it is associated with very large doses that shrink the muscle too fast. We dose for a gradual change.
