What is Ultherapy Prime, and what does it do?

Ultherapy Prime is Merz's micro-focused ultrasound platform and the only lifting device with real-time imaging. Each "line" is a row of focused ultrasound points placed at 4.5 mm on the SMAS, the fibrous layer that a surgeon tightens in a facelift, or at 3.0 mm in the deep dermis. Before each line the doctor sees the tissue on screen, so the energy lands on the layer it is meant for rather than on fat or bone. The points of heat make the tissue contract immediately and rebuild collagen over the following three months, which is where the lift comes from.

Downtime after Ultherapy Prime, and flying home

Nothing is visible after Ultherapy, but the jawline feels bruised when pressed for one to three days and a little swelling the next morning is common. Travel and work are fine the same day; sauna and strong facial massage wait a week.

What does the live imaging on Ultherapy actually add?

Certainty about depth. The SMAS does not sit at the same depth on every face or even on every zone of one face; on a thin cheek it may be at 3.5 mm, on a full jaw at 5 mm. Blind HIFU fires at a fixed depth and hopes. Ultherapy shows the doctor the layers on screen before each line, so the energy goes into the SMAS rather than into fat (which can hollow) or onto bone (which hurts for nothing). That is the main reason patients who saw nothing from cheaper HIFU see a result here.

Why did I see nothing from HIFU at another clinic?

Most often because the lines did not reach the SMAS: wrong depth for your face, too few lines, or lines fired in a flat grid by a technician rather than along lifting vectors. Sometimes because your problem was skin laxity, which ultrasound does not treat. Is Ultherapy worth the price over Korean HIFU?

For a true lift on a dropped jawline or a loose neck, yes: more energy per line, imaging, and a result that holds about a year. How painful is Ultherapy really?

A deep, brief ache on each line, strongest along the jawbone and the brow, gone the moment the line ends. With numbing cream most patients rate it four to six out of ten; oral pain relief brings it down further. It is more intense than Shurink and than any RF device, and it is over in forty-five minutes.

Can Ultherapy replace a facelift?

No. It tightens the layer a facelift repositions, and on early to moderate laxity it buys several years before surgery becomes the honest answer. On heavy jowls and real skin excess it will disappoint, and the doctor will say so at the consultation rather than sell you 600 lines.

Can I do this on a five-day trip to Busan?
