Checklist · Seomyeon, Busan · Foreigner-Friendly

Questions to ask a clinic in Busan Seomyeon, or anywhere else you are considering.

Nine questions, all short, none rude. Together they establish who treats you, what goes in, what it costs and what happens if something goes wrong — which is most of what a website cannot tell you.

On This Page
  1. One — who will perform the treatment?
  2. Two — what is the product, and can I see it?
  3. Three — how many units, cc or shots?
  4. Four — is there separate pricing for foreign patients?
  5. Five — what would you not recommend for me, and why?
  6. Six — what happens if I do nothing?
  7. Why nine rather than three?
  8. How do the answers combine?
  9. Seven — what should I watch for afterwards?
  10. Eight — how do I contact you once I have flown home?
  11. Nine — is there a review, and is it included?

This page is written to be used against us as much as anywhere else. Every question below is one we answer readily, and a clinic that finds any of them uncomfortable has told you something worth knowing.

Does This Sound Familiar?

What patients wish they had asked

  • I never found out who actually did the injection.
  • I did not know the price would depend on units.
  • Nobody told me what to watch for afterwards.
  • I felt awkward asking anything at all.
  • I only thought of the questions on the flight home.

All five come up most weeks, and the fourth is why the other four happen. The sections below give the questions.

One — who will perform the treatment?

The single most informative question, because dose, depth and placement decide the result and are chosen by whoever holds the needle. The answer should be immediate and specific. Hesitation is the informative response — see who performs your treatment. It matters most for filler in the under-eye and nose, where vascular anatomy leaves the least margin for a placement error.

Two — what is the product, and can I see it?

Product name, and the box or vial before it is opened. Genuine product carries lot numbers and a clinic using it has no reason to decline. For energy devices, ask to see the cartridge counter before and after — see counterfeit product. The same applies to laser tips and to booster vials, which carry lot numbers exactly as filler syringes do.

Three — how many units, cc or shots?

The number that makes a quote comparable. An area price without a count tells you nothing, and two clinics quoting different figures may be proposing entirely different treatments — see how to read a price list.

Four — is there separate pricing for foreign patients?

Legal in Korea and it exists, framed variously as coordination or translation. It is not hidden, it simply goes unmentioned unless asked. Ten seconds — see what foreign patients actually pay. The follow-up worth adding is whether the published list is what local patients pay, since a clinic can answer the first question honestly while operating two lists.

Five — what would you not recommend for me, and why?

The question that reveals whether an assessment happened. A clinic working from your face has an immediate answer; one working from inventory does not. It is also the question that most reliably distinguishes a genuine recommendation from a package — see what a no-upsell policy means. Where several treatments are proposed, follow it with a request to rank them, since a ranked plan can be partially declined and a bundled one usually cannot.

Six — what happens if I do nothing?

Sometimes the honest answer is that your concern will not meaningfully worsen, or that the appearance is anatomy rather than something treatable. Asking gives that answer room to be said — see what treatment cannot do.

Why nine rather than three?

Because they cover four separate things and dropping any group leaves a gap. The first two establish who and what. The next two establish cost on comparable terms. Questions five and six test whether an assessment happened rather than a sale. And the last three cover what happens after you leave, which is the part international patients most need and least often ask about. A shorter list would be easier to remember and would leave one of those four uncovered.

How do the answers combine?

Into a picture that no single answer gives. A clinic naming a premium filler but declining to state volume has answered two questions in a way that cancels out. One quoting a low figure for lifting with no shot count has done the same. What you are assessing is consistency across the nine rather than any individual reply — and inconsistency is easier to notice than a single evasive answer, which is the practical argument for asking all of them.

Seven — what should I watch for afterwards?

Specific signs, not general reassurance. After filler that means severe or increasing pain, skin blanching, a dusky patch and any vision change. Being told to call if worried is not the same thing — see what can go wrong.

Eight — how do I contact you once I have flown home?

A named channel that reaches a person, in a language you use, plus treatment notes recording product, lot, dose and area. This matters more for international patients than for anyone else, and it is the part of the service that varies most between clinics — see flying home after treatment.

Nine — is there a review, and is it included?

For injectables, a two-week appointment where asymmetry corrects in minutes and adding is straightforward. A review that costs money is a review patients skip, and skipped reviews are where correctable outcomes become permanent ones — see the two-week review. If you will have left the country by then, ask whether it can be done by photograph and on which channel, since that arrangement varies considerably between clinics and is worth establishing before rather than after.

Our Medical Team

Who will actually treat you at JRYN Seomyeon?

A doctor, in person, every time — never a nurse or a coordinator. JRYN Seomyeon has three doctors, and the clinic was founded by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, who still consults here. What you actually need is decided during the consultation after your skin is examined, not from a fixed package chosen in advance.

Three doctors, one standard of care.

Every treatment plan at JRYN Seomyeon is decided and performed in person by one of our doctors — led by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, founder of JRYN Dermatology.

From the Founder

The consultation is the treatment.

Most patients arrive asking for a specific treatment. My job is to check whether it is the right one for what they actually have. Getting that wrong is the most common mistake I correct.

Before You Book

Questions patients ask first.

No, and the worry is the reason most of them go unasked. Each takes seconds, each is standard at any properly run clinic, and a clinic that reacts badly has answered a more important question.

Bring them on your phone. Nobody minds, and it is considerably better than the flight home realisation — see what to bring.

The first. Everything else follows from who is making the clinical decisions and performing the treatment.

Entirely. None of them are Korea-specific, and the answers vary more between clinics than between countries — see what nobody tells you.

Vagueness is itself an answer. A clinic that cannot state a unit count or name the person treating you is describing something other than a plan.

Both. Message the ones that can be answered in writing before booking a trip, and ask the rest at consultation — see booking in English.

No. It establishes that the process is sound, which is the most a patient can assess in advance. Outcome still depends on judgement you cannot observe.

There is no deposit here and a consultation that ends without treatment costs nothing. Elsewhere, ask what the cancellation terms are before paying anything.
