Aftercare · Seomyeon, Busan · Foreigner-Friendly

Aftercare in Busan Seomyeon, and which instructions actually change the result.

Typical aftercare sheets list a dozen rules of unequal importance. Four of them account for most of the effect; the rest are sensible caution. Knowing which is which means the ones that matter get followed.

Long aftercare lists get half-followed because everything on them appears equally weighted. Ranking them means the important restrictions survive the week and the minor ones can be relaxed without cost.

Does This Sound Familiar?

What patients ask afterwards

  • Which of these rules actually matter?
  • I forgot and had a hot shower. Have I ruined it?
  • How long before I can go back to the gym?
  • Can I sleep normally?
  • When can I wear make-up?

All five come up regularly, and the second one usually has a reassuring answer. The sections below rank the instructions.

Rule one — heat, for 24 to 48 hours

The most important single restriction after injectables. Heat raises blood flow and tissue temperature, which increases swelling, accelerates product breakdown and can spread botox beyond where it was placed. That means no sauna, no jjimjilbang, no hot yoga, no hot shower directed at the face, and no vigorous exercise. Twenty-four hours covers most treatments and forty-eight is safer after filler.

Rule two — pressure and position

Matters most for anything placed structurally. No face-down sleeping after threads for two to three weeks, and no deep facial massage over filler for a fortnight. After botox, stay upright for four hours and avoid rubbing the treated area. Sleeping with the head slightly elevated for the first two nights reduces swelling measurably after filler and threads.

Rule three — sun protection

The rule that decides whether pigment work succeeded. After any laser, broad-spectrum SPF50 reapplied through the day, and tinted mineral formulation if you are treating melasma or prone to pigmentation. This is not a few days but weeks, and it is the instruction most often abandoned once the visible healing finishes — see sun protection.

Rule four — timing your next appointment

Less obviously aftercare and equally consequential. Returning at the correct interval — two weeks after filler for refinement, the right gap between course sessions, waiting for movement to return before repeating botox — determines the result as much as anything you do at home. The reviews exist because that is when correction is easy, and a patient who followed every instruction at home but skipped the two-week appointment has protected the smaller variable and let go of the larger one.

Why do long aftercare lists get half-followed?

Because a list where everything appears equally weighted gives no guidance about what to protect when life makes compliance awkward. A patient who cannot avoid a hot commute, a planned gym session and a beach afternoon in the same week has to choose, and an unranked list offers no basis for choosing. The result is that some patients abandon the whole thing and others follow the easy items while breaking the important one. Ranking the instructions is not a relaxation of them — it is what makes the top of the list survive contact with an actual week.

Four rules do most of the work

Does aftercare differ for visitors?

In practice yes, because a trip creates specific conflicts. Jjimjilbang visits, beach days and long walks in summer sun are exactly what a Busan itinerary contains and exactly what the top three rules restrict. That is why treatment is sequenced against your plans rather than fitted into the next available slot — tell us what the rest of the week looks like and the schedule accounts for it, or the treatment changes to one whose aftercare your trip can accommodate — see the five-day itinerary.

What matters less than patients think

Avoiding alcohol beyond the first evening. Sleeping position after botox beyond the first night. Skipping make-up beyond the point injection sites have closed. Avoiding flights, which affect almost nothing — see flying home after treatment. These appear on aftercare sheets as sensible caution and their absence rarely changes an outcome.

What if I broke a rule?

Usually nothing, and the anxiety is disproportionate to the risk. A single hot shower on day one is not the same as a week of saunas. One glass of wine the evening after filler may mean slightly more bruising and nothing else. What causes genuine problems is a pattern rather than a lapse — repeated heat exposure, or skipping sun protection daily for a month. Mention it at the next visit rather than worrying, since a single deviation is worth recording alongside your result rather than treated as a confession.

When can I exercise?

Light walking immediately. Vigorous exercise after twenty-four hours for most treatments, forty-eight after filler. Heavy leg training three to four days after calf botox. Nothing face-down — no yoga inversions or prone massage — for two weeks after threads. Swimming after any laser waits until the skin barrier has fully closed.

When can I wear make-up?

Same day after botox, lifting and laser toning. The following morning after boosters, once injection points have settled. From day one over bruising with concealer. Not until flaking has finished after resurfacing, usually day six to ten — see no-downtime treatments.

What should you have in writing?

The instructions in a language you read, the specific signs that need reporting, and a contact that reaches a person. Spoken aftercare half-understood is where most avoidable problems start, and the questions arrive at eleven at night three days later rather than at the counter — see what can go wrong. Here that written version continues on WhatsApp, LINE or KakaoTalk in your own language, which means the record of what you were told stays with you rather than in a folder at the clinic.

Our Medical Team

Who will actually treat you at JRYN Seomyeon?

A doctor, in person, every time — never a nurse or a coordinator. JRYN Seomyeon has three doctors, and the clinic was founded by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, who still consults here. What you actually need is decided during the consultation after your skin is examined, not from a fixed package chosen in advance.

Three doctors, one standard of care.

Every treatment plan at JRYN Seomyeon is decided and performed in person by one of our doctors — led by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, founder of JRYN Dermatology.

From the Founder

The consultation is the treatment.

Most patients arrive asking for a specific treatment. My job is to check whether it is the right one for what they actually have. Getting that wrong is the most common mistake I correct.

Before You Book

Questions patients ask first.

Avoid it the same evening after injectables, since it dilates vessels and increases bruising and swelling. Beyond that it makes little difference.

After injectables, yes for the first hours — it reduces both swelling and bruising. After laser and lifting, follow what you were told, since some treatments benefit from cooling and others from leaving the tissue undisturbed.

Pause retinoids and acids two to three days either side of laser. After injectables, resume normally the following day. After resurfacing, only what you were given until flaking has finished.

For most placements no, and it can displace product. Where massage is specifically instructed — after Sculptra — it is part of the protocol rather than optional.

For most treatments yes. Cabin pressure affects almost nothing; cabin dryness matters after laser. See flying home after treatment.

Avoid it for two to three weeks after threads, since wide mouth opening stresses the vectors. Mention any planned dental appointment at consultation.

For the first night or two after filler and for two to three weeks after threads. After botox and lifting it makes no practical difference beyond the first four hours upright.

Not over treated areas for two weeks after filler or threads. Elsewhere on the body, immediately.
