What does a thread lift do, and is it right for my face?
A thread lift places fine dissolvable threads under the skin along the direction a face has dropped, and uses their barbs or cones to reposition the tissue upward on the day, while the thread itself stimulates collagen along its track over the months it dissolves. It does what energy devices cannot: an immediate, visible lift of the jowl, the mid-face or the brow in one visit, without an incision. It does not do what surgery does: it moves tissue a few millimetres, not centimetres, and it holds a year or two, not ten. The first three days are soft food, small bites and no wide yawning or laughing, because the barbs are seating in the tissue and a wide movement can shift one; patients flying out of Busan wait 48 hours; days four to seven are careful; after a week the threads are anchored and normal life resumes, with no sauna, facial massage or dental work for a month. Aptos costs many times what PDO does. What am I actually paying for?
Duration and material. PDO dissolves in six to eight months and its lift holds six to twelve; Aptos threads are made of slower polymers, PLLA or PCL, that dissolve over eighteen months to two years and build collagen for that long, so the lift and the firming hold up to two years. Per month of result the gap narrows; per visit it is real, in Busan as in Seoul. MINT sits between: PDO with moulded rather than cut barbs, so the hold is stronger and lasts twelve to eighteen months. If threads dissolve anyway, does the lift just disappear?
Part of it stays.
