01 Start here — direct answer

What is Ellansé, and what does it do?

Ellansé is polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres in a carboxymethylcellulose gel, the longest-lasting of the stimulating fillers. Like Radiesse it gives contour on the day from the gel and collagen over the following months from the microspheres; the difference is that PCL dissolves more slowly than calcium, so the collagen phase runs longer and the result holds eighteen months to two years. It is firm, which makes it right for lines that need to be drawn rather than areas that need to be softened.

At Boom Dermatology in Seomyeon, Ellansé is what we call contour fixing: the jawline, the chin, the cheekbone and the temple, placed on the bone so the line reads as structure. It is not for lips, under-eyes or anywhere that moves a lot. For the same job at a lower price and a shorter hold, Radiesse; for a whole-face rebuild rather than a line, Sculptra or Lafullen, which is PCL spread across the face rather than placed in a line.

What Busan patients ask before Ellansé
  • Two years from one syringe sounds too good. What is the catch?
  • What does contour fixing actually mean?
  • Can it be dissolved if the shape is wrong?
  • Ellansé or Radiesse: which should I pick for my jaw?
  • Why is it the most expensive filler on the list?

All of these come up most weeks at our Seomyeon skin clinic. The page answers them in order.

03 The visit

What happens at an Ellansé session in Seomyeon?

This is how an Ellansé visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.

1

Message first

Front and side photos in daylight and what has changed in your face. The doctor replies with the product, the vials or cc, and the VAT-included price.

2

Consultation

Volume loss is separated from sagging and from skin quality; the plan and the dose go on your record.

3

Numbing cream, twenty to thirty minutes

Topical anaesthetic; the product is mixed with lidocaine where the protocol allows.

4

Injection by the doctor

Deeper, fewer points than a booster, by cannula where possible. Twenty to forty minutes.

5

Out the door

Mild swelling for a day or two; massage instructions where the product needs them. No sauna for a day.

6

Six-week review

We message you for a photo when the collagen has started to show; the next session, if planned, is set then.

How does Boom Dermatology dose Ellansé?

Ellansé is dosed by syringe and placed on the bone by cannula; the firmness is the point, so it goes only where a line is wanted.

On the bone

Supraperiosteal, by cannula, so the line reads as structure rather than swelling.

One syringe, most plans

A chin, both cheekbones, both temples or one side of the jaw; two for the full jawline.

Two-year horizon

Contour on the day, collagen by three months, result holding eighteen months to two years.

07 Questions, answered properly

Two years from one syringe: what is the catch?

That it cannot be dissolved, and that it is firm. Both are advantages in the right place, the jawline and chin, and problems in the wrong one, which is why Ellansé is never placed in lips, under-eyes or thin, mobile skin at Boom Dermatology. The two-year figure is real for contour on the bone; it is the gel plus the collagen the PCL stimulates.

What does contour fixing mean?

Drawing a line and keeping it. HA filler adds volume and softens; Ellansé on the bone adds an edge, the jawline or the chin profile, and because the collagen it builds is firm, the edge stays where it was drawn rather than spreading. That is the whole use: lines, not fullness.

Can Ellansé be dissolved?

No. The doctor places it conservatively, deep and by cannula for that reason, and errs low: a second syringe at the six-week review rather than a second on the day. If you want a result you can undo, HA filler is the right product and we will say so at our Seomyeon skin clinic.

Ellansé or Radiesse for the jaw?

Both work; Ellansé is firmer and holds six months longer for ₩110,000 more. Patients who have had HA soften too fast, or who want the squarest line, tend to choose Ellansé; patients who also want their hands treated choose Radiesse, which dilutes for that. The doctor shows the difference on your photo.

Why is it the most expensive filler on the list?

Duration. Per month of result it is the cheapest: ₩990,000 over eighteen to twenty-four months against HA filler that repeats every nine to twelve. Whether that is worth it depends on wanting the same line for two years, which is a decision for you, not a sales line.
