Skin clinic guide, Seomyeon, Busan, Korea
The Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, explained before you arrive.
Where the clinic is in Seomyeon, which doctor you will see, what languages are spoken, how dermatology pricing works in Busan and what actually happens on the day. Written for patients travelling to Busan from outside Korea, with the details most skin clinic guides leave out.
Most skin clinic pages in Busan tell you what treatments exist. Very few tell you what the day itself looks like: how long the consultation runs, whether anyone will speak your language, what happens if you decide not to proceed. This page covers that, using the same information our coordinators send over WhatsApp before you fly.
Does this sound familiar?
I only have one day in Busan. Can I actually fit a skin treatment in?
I found a dermatology clinic in Seomyeon, but will anyone there speak my language properly?
How do I know I am not being quoted a foreigner price?
I fly home tomorrow. Will I be swollen in my photos?
What if I get there and the doctor says I do not need it?
All five come up almost every week. This page answers them in order.
Where The Boom skin clinic is in Seomyeon, Busan, and how to reach it
The Boom Dermatology occupies floors 2, 5 and 6 of the Pungnyeon Building on Seomyeon-ro 68beon-gil, in the Seomyeon district of Busan. Seomyeon is the commercial centre of Busan and the point where subway Lines 1 and 2 cross, which makes it the easiest district in the city to reach from almost anywhere, and the reason so many of Busan's skin clinics are concentrated here.
From Seomyeon Station Exit 1
the walk is under a minute; Exit 7 is just as close. Lotte Department Store Busan Main is six minutes on foot, Jeonpo Cafe Street eight. From Gimhae International Airport, the light rail to Sasang and a change to Line 2 lands you at Seomyeon in about forty minutes; a taxi is around thirty. From Busan Station, where the KTX from Seoul arrives, it is two subway stops.
For taxi drivers:
show the Korean address rather than the English one. Korean drivers navigate by district and building name, and the romanised version often causes confusion. The Korean address is in the footer of every page, and our coordinators send it as an image on WhatsApp before your visit.
Parking in the building is free for standard cars; large sedans and SUVs use the Tricall lot five minutes away. Most visiting patients arrive by subway and never need it.
Which languages are actually spoken at this Busan skin clinic
English, Japanese and Chinese are handled by coordinators on staff. This matters more than it sounds. A large number of clinics in Korea advertise foreign-language service and then hand you a translation app at the counter, which is fine for booking and unhelpful when you are trying to describe a skin concern or understand a risk.
At The Boom Dermatology in Seomyeon the consultation itself is conducted in your language. Where a treatment carries a specific risk, pigmentation rebound on Asian skin after laser, for example, or the downtime attached to a deeper resurfacing, that explanation happens in a language you actually think in, not a summarised version of it.
Written follow-up continues in the same language. Aftercare instructions, and any questions that come up once you are home, are handled over WhatsApp rather than by leaving you with a Korean-only printout.
Who will see you at The Boom Dermatology
Three doctors practise at The Boom, a doctor-led skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan. The Medical Director, Dr. Kim Dong Hyun, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist, which is why the clinic can also assess Mounjaro
for weight management alongside skin treatment. Dr. Kim Woo Seok and Dr. Lee Chae Hyun are the clinic's directors. Their credentials are listed exactly as they are on the About page.
The practical point for a visiting patient is this: injections and laser parameters are decided and performed by a doctor, not delegated. Dose, depth and placement are the entire treatment, and the device brand matters far less than most marketing suggests, so the person making those calls is the thing worth checking at any skin clinic in Busan or Seoul, not only this one.
How a first consultation works at a Seomyeon skin clinic
The Boom is open Monday to Saturday, until 21:00 on Tuesday and Thursday, and through lunch on Saturday, which is worth knowing because a midday break is standard at most Korean clinics and late opening is rare.
Consultation is free if you proceed, and it is not a formality. The sequence is consistent:
1
You describe the concern
In your own language, in your own words. There is no need to arrive knowing the name of a treatment. Patients frequently arrive asking for one thing and leave with something different, because the concern turns out to have a different cause.
2
The doctor examines and explains the cause
Dark circles are the clearest example. If the shadow comes from a hollow, under-eye filler
resolves it. If it comes from pigmentation or thin skin, filler will not help and may make it worse. These look identical in a mirror.
3
Options are laid out with trade-offs
Including the option of doing nothing, and the option of a treatment we do not offer. If surgery is the honest answer for the degree of laxity you have, you will be told that rather than sold a thread lift that underdelivers.
4
Pricing is given before anything happens
An exact figure, VAT included, in writing if you want it, before you agree to anything. Nothing is added on the day.
Consultations run 20 to 40 minutes, in your language
How dermatology pricing works in Busan, and what you will be told
Foreign patients pay the same prices as local patients. There is no separate foreigner rate at The Boom, which is worth confirming at any skin clinic in Busan or elsewhere in Korea, because the practice is not universal. Every figure on this site already includes 10% VAT, so the number you see is the number you pay.
Prices published on the price list
are for the unit or area listed. What changes them is volume and area, not your nationality. Botox priced per area costs more if your masseter is thick and needs more units; a laser priced per session costs more for the full face than for one patch.

Cards are accepted, including foreign-issued Visa, Mastercard, Amex, UnionPay and JCB. Cash in Korean won is also fine. You do not need to prepay or leave a deposit to hold a slot.
What to bring, and what you can skip
Bring your passport, which Korean clinics record for foreign patients. Bring a list of any medication you take regularly, particularly blood thinners, isotretinoin and anything affecting immune response, since each of these changes what can safely be done and when.
If you have had treatments before, knowing roughly what and roughly when is useful. Exact product names help but are not essential. If you have had filler in the area you want treated, say so; it changes the plan.
You can skip printed research, competitor price lists and screenshots of results you want to replicate. None of it is unwelcome, but the consultation covers the same ground more accurately.
Photographs help before you arrive.
Two or three well-lit photos over WhatsApp let us give the exact VAT-included prices from our list and tell you whether the treatment you have in mind is the right one, before you commit to travel dates.
How long skin treatments take in Busan
Shorter than most people expect. Consultation runs twenty to forty minutes depending on complexity. The treatments themselves:
Thread lifting: thirty to sixty minutes, two to three weeks of care
Numbing cream, where used, adds twenty to thirty minutes to the total. Most patients are in and out inside two hours including consultation, and several treatments can be combined in a single visit when they do not interfere with each other.
Booking a Busan skin clinic from outside Korea
Message on WhatsApp with your travel dates and what you would like to address. Photographs are useful but optional at this stage. You will receive a reply in your language with an honest read on whether the treatment fits, the VAT-included price and a schedule that works around your trip.
No deposit is required. The consultation on arrival remains free if you proceed, and there is no obligation to proceed after it. If the answer turns out to be that a treatment is not right for you, you will hear that before you spend anything.
After you fly home from Busan
Aftercare continues over the same channel you booked on. Swelling that seems unusual, a question about when you can resume exercise, whether a particular product is safe to use: these are answered in your language rather than left to a search engine.
For treatments that run as a course, the schedule is planned around your ability to return. Where a course cannot be completed in one trip, the plan is built to reach a sensible endpoint within the visit and continue when you next travel. Busan is a short flight from Japan, Taiwan and much of China, which is why many patients of this Seomyeon skin clinic plan a second visit to Busan rather than a longer first one.
Good to know
Questions patients ask first
1
Do I need to book in advance, or can I walk in?
Both work. Walk-ins are accepted Monday to Saturday, and a same-day treatment is often possible after the consultation. Messaging ahead is still worth two minutes: it means the coordinator who speaks your language is scheduled, you skip the wait, and we can tell you in advance if what you want needs a course rather than a single visit.
2
Will I actually be able to communicate, or is it a translation app?
The consultation is conducted in English, Japanese or Chinese by coordinators on staff. This is the part of the visit where a language gap does real damage, so it is not delegated to an app. Written aftercare and follow-up questions after you return home continue in the same language over WhatsApp.
3
Do foreign patients pay more at a Busan dermatology clinic?
Not at The Boom. The prices on this site are the ones Korean patients pay, and they already include 10% VAT. What changes a final figure is units, volume and treated area, not nationality. Separate foreigner pricing does exist at some clinics in Korea, so it is a fair question to ask anywhere before you commit.
4
How much time should I allow for a first visit?
Around two hours covers consultation and most treatments, including numbing time where it applies. Consultation alone runs twenty to forty minutes. Botox takes about ten minutes and filler fifteen to twenty; lifting runs thirty to sixty minutes depending on shot count. Tell us if you are planning around a flight and you get a specific number, not a range.
5
Can I fly home the same day or the next day?
For most treatments, yes. Botox, laser toning and skin boosters carry no meaningful restriction on flying. Filler involves swelling that peaks in the first day or two, so flying is possible but you may prefer not to arrive somewhere important looking swollen. Deeper resurfacing lasers need more planning. Send your departure date with your enquiry and the schedule is built around it.
6
What if the doctor says the treatment I want is not right for me?
Then you will be told, and there is no charge for having asked. This happens regularly, most often with dark circles, where a hollow and a pigmentation problem look identical but need entirely different treatments, and with laxity, where surgery is sometimes the honest answer rather than threads. A consultation that ends without a booking is a normal outcome.
7
Which payment methods are accepted?
Foreign-issued Visa, Mastercard, Amex, UnionPay and JCB are accepted, as is cash in Korean won. No deposit is required to hold a slot, and payment is taken after treatment. Cosmetic treatments are not eligible for tax refund, so the VAT-included price is the final price.

Is The Boom skin clinic easy to find from Seomyeon Station?
Yes. The clinic is in the Pungnyeon Building in Seomyeon, Busan, less than one minute from Seomyeon Station Exit 1 on Lines 1 and 2; Exit 7 is just as close. Lotte Department Store is six minutes on foot, Jeonpo Cafe Street eight. From Gimhae Airport allow about forty minutes by light rail and Line 2, or thirty by taxi. Show the driver the Korean address in the footer of this page.
