What is Aptos thread lift, and what does it do?
Aptos
is a family of lifting threads from the company that introduced the barbed thread, made of polymers that dissolve far more slowly than PDO: poly-L-lactic acid
and polycaprolactone
, the materials of Sculptra
and Ellansé. The barbs reposition the tissue on the day as any lifting thread does; the material then stays for eighteen months to two years, stimulating collagen along its whole length for that time, so both the lift and the firming hold far longer than a PDO thread's six to twelve months. It is the thread for the patient who wants one procedure and a long interval, and for the mid-face and jowl with enough tissue to make the hold worth having.
At Boom Dermatology, Aptos is quoted at the consultation by thread count, and it is quoted honestly: it costs several times a PDO plan per visit and considerably less per month of result, and whether that trade suits you is a decision we lay out rather than make. For most first thread lifts PDO
or MINT
is enough; for tissue too heavy for any thread, surgery, which we say plainly and refer.
What Busan patients ask before Aptos thread lift
This costs many times what PDO does. What am I actually buying?
Two years sounds good. Is that a real figure or a best case?
How much worse is the recovery compared with PDO threads?
My tissue is heavy. Will threads even hold it?
Can Aptos be combined with HIFU or a stimulator?
All of these come up most weeks at our Seomyeon skin clinic. The page answers them in order.
02
Who it suits
Who is Aptos thread lift for?
Good candidates
A mid-face or jowl with enough tissue to make a long hold worthwhile
Patients who want one procedure and a long interval
Patients whose PDO lifts have faded in under a year
The forties to fifties, before surgery is the answer
Patients already using PLLA or PCL stimulators who want the lift as well
We will suggest something else
Tissue too heavy for any thread; surgery is the honest answer
Very thin skin where a thicker thread would show
Mild laxity that HIFU or RF handles
Active infection, keloid tendency, autoimmune disease, blood thinners without clearance
Pregnancy; an event or dental work inside a month

The visit
What happens at an Aptos thread lift session in Seomyeon?
This is how an Aptos thread lift visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.
1
Message first
Front and side photos in daylight, no make-up, and what has dropped. The doctor replies with whether threads fit, the likely type and count, and the VAT-included quote.
2
Consultation and marking
The drop is mapped with you upright; vectors, thread type and count are drawn on your face and written on your record with the quote.
3
Local anaesthetic
Entry points numbed; forty minutes from marking to the last thread.
4
Threads placed by the doctor
Each thread passed along its vector with a cannula, set and trimmed; the lift is checked in the mirror before the next.
5
Out the door
Mild swelling and tightness; soft food and small expressions for three days; sleep on your back for a few nights; fly out of Busan after 48 hours.
6
Two-week review
Swelling gone, the lift settled; the photo goes on your record, by WhatsApp if you have left Busan, and the maintenance plan is set.
How does Boom Dermatology plan Aptos thread lift?
Aptos threads are planned by vector, plane and count with you upright; the slow-dissolving material means fewer threads and a longer interval, and the count is written before the quote.
Vector and plane
Along the line of the drop, in the plane that holds for the thread's long life.
Two to four a side
A thicker, longer-lived thread; fewer per vector than PDO.
Eighteen to twenty-four months
Lift and collagen for the life of the thread; repeat at a long interval, often alternated with HIFU.

Downtime
Downtime after Aptos thread lift, and flying home
Honestly stated: much the same as PDO, swelling and tightness for five to seven days and a possible bruise, with the tightness sometimes lasting a few days longer because the thread is thicker. Soft food and small expressions for three days. Fly after 48 hours.

Questions, answered properly
This costs many times what PDO does. What am I actually buying?
Time. A PDO thread is gone in six to eight months and its lift with it; an Aptos thread stays for eighteen months to two years and builds collagen the whole while. Per visit it costs several times more; per month of result it costs less. Whether that is a good trade depends on wanting the same lift for two years without a repeat, which is a decision we set out at Boom Dermatology rather than make for you.
Two years sounds good. Is that a real figure or a best case?
Real for the material: the polymers take that long to dissolve and stimulate collagen throughout. The lift itself is strongest in the first year and softens through the second as the tissue ages around it; "two years" means two years of being better than you were, not two years frozen on day fourteen. The photo at each review shows the arc honestly.
How much worse is the recovery compared with PDO threads?
Slightly longer tightness, because the thread is thicker; otherwise the same week of swelling, soft food and small expressions, and a flight after 48 hours. Our Seomyeon skin clinic gives the same aftercare for both.
My tissue is heavy. Will threads even hold it?
The pinch test at the consultation answers that. Moderately heavy tissue is what Aptos and MINT are for; tissue that is heavy enough that threads would pull through or look pulled is a surgical case, and we will say so and refer you rather than place threads that will disappoint.
Can Aptos be combined with HIFU or a stimulator?
Yes, and it is the long-interval plan: HIFU or RF four weeks before or after to tighten, a stimulator two weeks after along the lifted area, Botox to the muscles that pull against the lift. Patients at Boom Dermatology in Busan who maintain this way often go the full two years before repeating.
The doctor says whether Aptos thread lift fits your face, names the thread count and the vectors, and writes the VAT-included quote before you book a flight to Busan.
