A clinic that never says no is not a clinic with better technology. Every limit below is one we state at consultation, and each has cost us bookings that another clinic would have taken.

It cannot remove skin

The largest single limit. Threads reposition tissue and energy tightens it, but neither removes excess, and pulling a face with substantial skin excess upward produces bunching rather than a lift. Where elastic recoil is largely gone, non-surgical treatment improves the appearance without approaching what surgery achieves — and being told which category you are in is the point of the examination — see jowls and the jawline.

It cannot change bone

A wide jaw from mandible angle, a recessed chin needing genuine advancement, a broad nose, an orbital rim that has resorbed. It cannot make anything smaller

Every injectable adds. A nose cannot be narrowed by filling it, a face cannot be slimmed by volume, and a lip cannot be reduced by product. What can be reduced is muscle bulk with botox where hypertrophy is the cause, and that is the only subtraction available in this category — see calf slimming.

It cannot fully clear scarring

Scars are permanent structural changes to the dermis. Fifty to seventy per cent improvement across a full course is a realistic target for mixed acne scarring, and it is a meaningful change rather than clearance. It cannot cure melasma

It is managed rather than resolved. A course produces meaningful lightening; maintenance holds it; pregnancy, heat or an unprotected summer brings it back. Being told this at the outset is what allows a plan to be judged fairly rather than as a failure — see melasma or sun spots.

Why does a page like this exist at all?

Because the alternative is discovering the limit after paying for a course. Every item above is something a patient could reasonably hope for from reading treatment pages, and each is something a clinic can leave unaddressed without saying anything untrue — describing what a treatment does while never mentioning what it does not. How do I raise this at another clinic?

Ask what result they expect, at what interval, and what would make them recommend against the treatment. It cannot restore skin to a previous decade

Improvement is real and the frame of reference matters. Boosters and laser improve density, tone and texture measurably, producing skin that looks well rather than skin that looks twenty-five. It cannot make you look like someone else

A result achieved on another face was produced on different bone, different tissue thickness and different proportion. Reference images are useful for describing a quality you want — softer, more defined, less tired — and unhelpful as a template. Patients who bring a photograph and receive the outcome in it are rare, and usually started with similar anatomy.

It cannot remove expression without cost

A completely still forehead is achievable and it reads as treated, particularly on a male face. Every unit that removes movement also removes the lift and animation that movement provides — the trade is real and the only question is where you want to sit on it. Sometimes that means recommending a different treatment, sometimes a surgical referral, and sometimes that nothing needs doing at all.
