What is Nose thread lift, and what does it do?

A nose thread lift places several firm PDO threads along the bridge from the tip toward the brow, and a few through the tip to support it, so the bridge reads straighter and slightly higher and the tip a little more defined and lifted, all in the midline where the threads are laid. Because a thread occupies a line rather than a volume, it does not spread sideways the way filler can, which is the reason patients who want height without width, or who have seen a filler nose widen, ask for it; and because the threads dissolve over nine to twelve months and build collagen along their tracks, the shape holds for about a year and a repeat is simpler than the first. It is not a rhinoplasty, it cannot reduce a hump or narrow a wide base, and it does not change what surgery can do later.

Downtime after Nose thread lift, and flying home

Is this safer than nose filler, or riskier?

Different risks. Filler in the nose carries the rare but serious risk of entering a blood vessel, which is why it is placed by cannula in the midline by a doctor; threads do not carry that risk, but they can show through thin skin, shift if placed shallow, or extrude at the tip if too long. My tip droops when I smile. Can threads lift that?

Partly: tip threads support the tip at rest. The droop on smiling is a muscle pulling the tip down, and a small dose of Botox to that muscle fixes the movement; threads and Botox together are the usual plan for a tip that both sits low and drops on smiling.

What happens if I want rhinoplasty later?

Nothing that prevents it. The threads dissolve within a year and leave fine collagen tracks that a surgeon works through without difficulty; tell the surgeon, and allow the threads to dissolve first if the surgery is within the year. How many threads, and will I feel them?
