Botox brands in Busan Seomyeon, and what the price difference buys.

Four tiers, real differences and a good deal of marketing on top. This sets out where brand genuinely changes the result, where it does not, and how to choose without paying for a name you did not need.

Botulinum toxin is not one product. The brands differ in unit potency, how far they spread, how quickly they act and how long they hold — and those differences matter in some areas and are close to irrelevant in others.

Does This Sound Familiar?

What patients ask about brands

  • Is the expensive one actually better or is it just the name?
  • Someone said Korean botox wears off faster.
  • Which one is used at most clinics here?
  • Does the brand change how natural it looks?
  • I was quoted five times more for the same treatment.

All five come up most weeks, and the last one is usually a brand difference rather than a pricing problem. The sections below explain what separates them.

What actually differs between brands?

Four things. Unit potency, which is why unit counts are not comparable across brands. Diffusion — how far the toxin spreads from the injection point. Onset speed, ranging from two to five days. And duration, which varies by a few weeks rather than by months. Everything else, including the mechanism and the protein itself, is the same across every approved product.

Why does diffusion matter?

Because it decides which areas suit which product. Wider spread suits large flat muscles where even coverage is wanted — the forehead, or calf. Tighter spread suits precise work near muscles you do not want affected, such as around the eyes or in microbotox where the toxin should stay superficial. This is the difference that genuinely changes technique rather than only price.

Is Allergan worth the premium?

Sometimes, and being specific about when is more useful than a general endorsement. It carries the longest clinical record and the most predictable behaviour, which matters for precision work near the eyes and for patients who have responded poorly to something else. For a straightforward masseter treatment in a large muscle, the practical difference against a Korean toxin is modest — measured in a few weeks of duration rather than in result quality.

Do Korean toxins wear off faster?

Marginally for some patients and not measurably for others. The gap is typically a few weeks rather than months, and it is smaller than the variation between individuals. Korean toxins are MFDS-approved, used at enormous domestic volume with established safety records, and are what most Korean patients receive — see MFDS approval for what that certification covers.

Does brand change how natural it looks?

No — dose and placement do. A conservatively dosed Korean toxin looks more natural than an over-dosed Allergan treatment, every time. The brand determines some technical parameters; the doctor determines whether you keep your expression. Patients paying a premium and receiving a frozen forehead have bought the wrong variable.

Dose matters more than brand in most areas

Why are unit counts not comparable?

Because potency per unit differs by product. Dysport uses a different unit scale from Allergan, so a raw number without the brand attached tells you nothing — twenty units of one is not twenty units of the other. This matters when comparing quotes between clinics: the product name and the unit count together are the figure, and either alone is meaningless — see how to read a price list.

Which would we suggest for which area?

For forehead and glabella, either tier works well and the choice is budget. For crow's feet and any precision work near the eye, tighter-diffusion products. For masseter and calf, Korean toxin is entirely adequate and the saving is meaningful given the unit counts involved. For hyperhidrosis, wider diffusion is an advantage.

Why is brand the wrong first question?

Because it is the variable patients can research and therefore the one they arrive fixated on, while the variables that decide the outcome are invisible from outside the room. Unit count, injection depth, point placement and whether the dose was matched to your muscle bulk all outrank the name on the vial — and none of them appear in a price comparison. A clinic quoting a premium brand with no unit count is telling you less than one quoting a Korean toxin with the count stated. Asking about brand is reasonable; asking about brand first is how the more important questions get skipped.

How does this compare with the rest of the range?

The same logic runs through everything here. Filler brands differ in firmness and longevity but placement decides the result. Lifting platforms differ in depth and comfort while shot count decides whether anything changes. Boosters differ in molecule with the course length mattering more. In each category the product is the smaller variable and the plan is the larger one — which is the argument for spending your consultation on the plan rather than on the catalogue.

What about resistance?

Genuine but uncommon. Repeated exposure can produce neutralising antibodies in a small minority, more likely with high doses at short intervals. The practical protections are treating only when movement has returned rather than on a fixed calendar, and using the lowest effective dose. Where a patient stops responding to one product, switching to another with a different accessory protein profile sometimes helps.

How should I choose?

By area and by budget rather than by reputation. Ask which product, why that one for this area, and what the unit count is — three questions that convert a brand conversation into a clinical one. All four tiers are named openly on the botox page with prices, and the product and lot are shown before treatment whichever you choose.

Our Medical Team

Who will actually treat you at JRYN Seomyeon?

A doctor, in person, every time — never a nurse or a coordinator. JRYN Seomyeon has three doctors, and the clinic was founded by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, who still consults here. What you actually need is decided during the consultation after your skin is examined, not from a fixed package chosen in advance.

Three doctors, one standard of care.

Every treatment plan at JRYN Seomyeon is decided and performed in person by one of our doctors — led by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, founder of JRYN Dermatology.

From the Founder

The consultation is the treatment.

Most patients arrive asking for a specific treatment. My job is to check whether it is the right one for what they actually have. Getting that wrong is the most common mistake I correct.

Questions patients ask first.

MFDS-approved and used at very high domestic volume with established safety records. The shorter international record means fewer independent studies outside Korea rather than a demonstrated difference in safety.

Korean products by a wide margin, on cost. Imported brands are available everywhere and requested more often by foreign patients than by local ones.

Yes, and it is sometimes useful — for assessing duration differences on your own face, or where response to one has declined. Tell us what you had last time.

Up to the point of full muscle relaxation, then no. Beyond that additional units add duration marginally and risk affecting neighbouring muscles.

It exists in the region and is the honest explanation for pricing below the market floor for an imported product. Asking to see the box and lot number is the defence — see safety standards.

Slightly. Some products begin at two to three days and others at four to five, with full effect at fourteen for all of them. It matters when timing around an event — see timing around an event.

Differences are measured in weeks. Area matters far more than brand — underarm lasts six to eight months and forehead three to four regardless of product.

Not necessarily. A conservative first dose of any approved product tells you how you respond, and the two-week review adjusts it. Save the brand decision for when you know your own pattern.
