What is Oligio, and what does it do?

Oligio is a monopolar radiofrequency device made in Korea that works the way Thermage does: a single large electrode sends RF energy through the full thickness of the skin while the tip is cooled, so the dermis is heated to the point where collagen fibres contract immediately and new collagen is laid down over the following months. The difference from the imported original is in the cost of the consumable tip and in Oligio's built-in sensor, which reads skin temperature on every shot and adjusts the energy, so hot spots are rare and the session is more comfortable than older RF devices.

Downtime after Oligio, and flying home

Oligio has no real downtime. Expect mild pinkness and warmth for an hour or two, occasionally a little puffiness the next morning. Flying the same evening is fine; sauna and hard exercise wait 48 hours.

Is Oligio genuinely close to Thermage, or is it cheaper for a reason?

How many Oligio shots do I need?

Three hundred for the full face once, six hundred for a second pass on the lower face and the neck. Shot count is the treatment: a session is only a length of time, while the number of pulses across the mapped grid decides coverage and therefore result. Does Oligio hurt?

A deep warmth that builds with each pulse rather than a sharp pain. Contact cooling protects the surface while the dermis heats, numbing cream is applied beforehand, and the sensor turns the energy down on a spot that is getting too hot. Most patients compare it to a hot-stone treatment. It is slightly less comfortable than Thermage FLX, which adds vibration, and considerably better than older RF generations.

Is Oligio better as regular maintenance than as a one-off?

Will Oligio lift my jawline, or should I choose HIFU?
