What is Scorpio, and what does it do?
Scorpio
is the deep remodelling device at Boom Dermatology for acne scars: energy placed below the skin surface in a dense pattern of points, at the depth where the fibrous base of a pitted or rolling scar tethers the skin down, so the tether is broken and new collagen fills the floor of the scar from beneath over the following months. It is paired with Potenza
as the two deep options on the acne scar plan, with Scorpio taking the deeper, more tethered scars and Potenza the broader texture and pores.
In Seomyeon the doctor assigns Scorpio after reading the scar type: ice-pick and deep boxcar scars, rolling scars that move when the skin is stretched, and scar fields on the cheeks and temples that FloraCell or Kaiser 300 have not lifted. For shallow scars and pores the lighter devices are the right spend; for a single deep scar, subcision or excision may be added. Scars are the slowest result on the laser menu, and the plan is written with that honesty.

The visit
What happens at a Scorpio session in Seomyeon?
This is how a Scorpio visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.
1
Message first
A daylight photo without make-up and what bothers you. The doctor replies with the device, the likely session count and the VAT-included price.
2
Consultation
Pigment is separated from redness, melasma is screened for, previous lasers and sun exposure are asked. Device and settings go on your record.
3
Cleanse and cool
Make-up off, eye shields on; cooling gel or numbing cream depending on the device.
4
Test pulses, then the pass
A few test pulses on the jawline to read the response, then the full pass by the doctor.
5
Out the door
Sunscreen before you leave; make-up from the same evening for toning, the next day for vascular work.
6
Review and rhythm
A photo at two to four weeks sets the interval; a review at the fifth session decides continue, stop or switch.
How does Boom Dermatology dose Scorpio?
Scorpio is dosed by depth, density and energy per scar field; the doctor maps the scar types first and writes the settings on your record.
Below the surface
Energy at the depth of the scar base, so the tether breaks and collagen fills from beneath.
Density to the field
Dense over pitted fields, lighter over rolling scars, none over healthy skin.
Six weeks apart
Three to five sessions; scars lift over the months after each, not the days.

Questions, answered properly
Why have my scars not improved after lighter sessions?
Because the lighter sessions worked at the surface and the scar is anchored below it. A pitted or tethered scar has a fibrous base that pulls the skin down; smoothing the skin around it changes the texture but not the pit. Scorpio works at the base. The doctor at Boom Dermatology reads which scars are tethered by stretching the skin at the consultation, and that reading decides the device.
Scorpio or Potenza?
Same price, different job. Potenza is RF microneedling that remodels broad fields of texture and pores at adjustable depth; Scorpio concentrates on the deep, tethered scars. A face with both, which is most scar faces, alternates them: Scorpio for the pits one visit, Potenza for the field the next, six weeks apart. The doctor at our Seomyeon skin clinic writes the sequence before the first session.
How much downtime, and will my face be swollen?
Yes, for two to three days: swelling on day one, redness and pinpoint marks after, make-up from day three, a flight after 48 hours. Scar treatment is the one laser plan we tell visitors to put at the start of a trip, not the end.
How long before scars look shallower?
Six weeks for the first lift, three months for the clear change after each session, and the collagen keeps filling for six months after the last one. Photos in the same light at each visit are the measure; scars are the slowest result on the list and we say so.
Can deep scars ever be fully removed?
Deep ice-pick scars are improved, not erased; rolling and boxcar scars can come close to flat over a course. Anyone promising complete removal is selling. At Boom Dermatology in Busan the realistic endpoint is shown on your own photo before you pay, and a single stubborn scar may get subcision or excision added.
