What is Wrinkle Botox, and what does it do?

Wrinkle Botox relaxes the small muscles that fold the skin when you frown, raise your brows or squint, so the lines they make soften and, with repeated treatment, stop deepening. At Boom Dermatology the three areas are the forehead (frontalis), the glabella (the "11" between the brows) and the crow's feet ; smaller areas such as bunny lines, the chin and the mouth corners have their own page. Each area is a fixed price per brand, not per unit, so the doctor doses what the muscle needs and nothing more.

In Seomyeon we treat wrinkle Botox as a precision job rather than a commodity: the doctor watches your face move before marking a single point, keeps the forehead dose light on a low brow so the lid does not drop, and treats the glabella and forehead together whenever both are active, because one without the other changes the brow shape. Lines that remain when your face is still are a different problem and a different page: filler or collagen stimulation.

What Busan patients ask before Wrinkle Botox
  • I want the lines softer but I still want to look like myself.
  • My forehead felt heavy for months after treatment somewhere else.
  • Some of my lines are there even when my face is completely still. Will this help those?
  • I am 32. Is it too early, or better to start before they set?
  • How long before an event should I have this done?

All of these come up most weeks at our Seomyeon skin clinic. The page answers them in order.

02 Who it suits

Who is Wrinkle Botox for?

Good candidates

  • Dynamic lines: forehead, frown lines, crow's feet that show on expression
  • Early lines in the late twenties and thirties, to slow their setting
  • Patients who want natural movement kept, dosed conservatively
  • A tidy-up two weeks before an event, trip or photos
  • Regular treatment every three to four months, with a protein-free brand if you prefer

We will suggest something else

  • Static lines that stay when the face is still; those want filler or a booster
  • A heavy, low brow where forehead Botox would drop the lid; the doctor treats the glabella instead or doses very lightly
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Neuromuscular conditions or aminoglycoside antibiotics in the last two weeks
  • A skin infection at the injection site

How does Boom Dermatology dose Wrinkle Botox?

Wrinkle Botox is dosed in units per point, decided after watching your face move, and the price is per area so the units are never a sales target.

Watch first

Frown, raise, smile. Points are marked on the muscle that is actually working, which differs from face to face.

Units

Glabella typically 15–25, forehead 8–20, crow's feet 6–12 per side; lighter when you want movement kept.

Timing

Two weeks before an event so the result has landed and any top-up is done; every three to four months to maintain.

07 Questions, answered properly

Which wrinkle areas should I treat first?

The glabella, almost always. Frown lines are the ones other people read as tiredness or anger, and relaxing them lifts the whole expression. The forehead comes second and is dosed in relation to the glabella, because treating the forehead alone can drop the brow. Crow's feet third, for patients whose smile lines bother them in photographs. At Boom Dermatology the doctor will tell you which of the three is actually moving, and will not sell an area that is not.

Why did my forehead feel heavy after Botox elsewhere, and how do you avoid it?

Too many units in the frontalis, or units placed too low on a brow that was already low. The frontalis is the only muscle lifting your brow; relax it fully and the brow sinks, which feels like a heavy lid. At our Seomyeon skin clinic the doctor checks brow height before marking, keeps the forehead dose light and high on a low brow, and treats the glabella at the same time so the brow is not pulled down from below.

Will Botox help lines that are visible when my face is still?

Only partly, and only over time. Static lines are creases in the skin itself, from years of folding and from collagen loss. Botox stops the folding, which lets the crease soften gradually over repeated treatments, but the quickest route for an etched line is volume or collagen: a small amount of filler in the crease, or a booster course. The doctor will tell you which you are looking at.

Is my early thirties too soon to start?

Not if lines are already visible on expression. Starting when the lines are dynamic, before they are etched at rest, is the one case where "preventative" is literally true: a lightly dosed glabella or crow's feet two or three times a year keeps the crease from forming. Starting with no lines at all is not necessary, and we will say so.

Can the dose be adjusted so I keep some movement?

Yes, and it is the default at Boom Dermatology. Expression comes from the muscles; a frozen forehead is an over-treated one. The doctor doses for softened lines with a natural raise and smile, and if you want more at the two-week review, a top-up adds it. It is far easier to add than to wait three months for too much to wear off.
