What is Morpheus8, and what does it do?

Morpheus8 is InMode's fractional radiofrequency microneedling device. A cartridge of fine gold-coated needles enters the skin to a set depth, up to 4 mm, and delivers RF energy at the tip, so the heat goes into the dermis and the fat beneath rather than across the surface. The result is tightening of loose tissue, remodelling of fat in jowls and under the chin, and resurfacing of texture, pores and scars, all from one pass. It is the only device on our lifting hub that treats laxity and surface texture together, and the only one with real downtime.

At Boom Dermatology in Seomyeon we suggest Morpheus8 for the neck and jowls, for a lower face where laxity and texture overlap, and for acne-scarred skin that has also started to sag. Downtime after Morpheus8, and flying home

Real downtime, honestly stated: redness and pinpoint marks for two to four days, mild swelling on day one, a dry, slightly rough surface into the first week. No make-up for 24 hours, sunscreen daily. Fly after 48 hours with a mask if you must.

How bad is the Morpheus8 downtime, really?

Day one: red, warm, swollen, dotted. Day two to four: pink with pinpoint scabs, fine to work from a laptop, not fine for a photo. By day five most patients wear make-up; the surface feels rough for a week. It is the only lifting device at our Seomyeon skin clinic with downtime, and we will not book it inside 48 hours of a flight or a week of an event.

Morpheus8 or Potenza?

Both are RF microneedling. Morpheus8 goes deeper (up to 4 mm) with more energy at the tip, which is what jowls and neck bands need, and has more downtime. Potenza is tuned for pores, scars and texture at shallower depths with a day or two of pinkness. Laxity plus texture, Morpheus8; texture alone, Potenza.

Do I need two treatments for jowls and acne scars?

Usually not, which is the point of Morpheus8. The deep pass treats the jowl fat and laxity; the same cartridge at a shallower depth treats the scars on the cheek. The doctor sets depth per zone within one session.

Is it safe on Asian skin?

Yes, with care. Microneedling with RF at the tip carries less pigment risk than ablative lasers because the surface is spared, but the doctor still lowers energy and passes on darker or melasma-prone skin and insists on sunscreen for a month. If you have had pigment after treatment before, say so in the first message.

How many sessions, and how long does it last?

One session shows a change at three months; jowls and neck bands usually want two to three, four to six weeks apart. Results hold about a year and are maintained with a no-downtime RF device in between.
