What is Mosaic, and what does it do?

Mosaic (Lutronic) is a non-ablative fractional laser at 1550 nm, the erbium-glass wavelength that water in the dermis absorbs moderately, so each micro-beam coagulates a narrow column of tissue below the surface without removing the skin above it. The columns heal from the intact skin between them within days while the heat they left triggers collagen remodelling over weeks: the principle the original Fraxel introduced, and the tier between picosecond fractional and the ablative lasers. It treats the aftermath of acne rather than acne itself: red marks, early rolling scars, uneven texture and enlarged pores, with two to three days of pinkness.

In Seomyeon, Mosaic is the laser the doctor adds once acne is controlled and the face is left marked and textured but not deeply pitted; at ₩275,000 a session or ₩1,100,000 for five it is a course, four weeks apart. Deeper scars go to Potenza, Scorpio or UltraClear on the scar plan; brown marks alone go to toning; the lighter fractional pass is PicoHi Fraxel.

03 The visit

What happens at a Mosaic session in Seomyeon?

This is how a Mosaic visit runs at Boom Dermatology, a skin clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, from the first message to the review.

1

Message first

A daylight photo without make-up and what bothers you. The doctor replies with the device, the likely session count and the VAT-included price.

2

Consultation

Pigment is separated from redness, melasma is screened for, previous lasers and sun exposure are asked. Device and settings go on your record.

3

Cleanse and cool

Make-up off, eye shields on; cooling gel or numbing cream depending on the device.

4

Test pulses, then the pass

A few test pulses on the jawline to read the response, then the full pass by the doctor.

5

Out the door

Sunscreen before you leave; make-up from the same evening for toning, the next day for vascular work.

6

Review and rhythm

A photo at two to four weeks sets the interval; a review at the fifth session decides continue, stop or switch.

How does Boom Dermatology dose Mosaic?

Mosaic is dosed by energy and density per zone; the doctor sets both to the texture and writes them on your record.

1550 nm columns

Narrow coagulated columns in the dermis; the surface stays intact.

Density to the damage

Denser over marks and early scars, lighter over healthy skin.

Four weeks, three to five times

Collagen from each session builds into the next; the photo at the third decides the rest.

07 Questions, answered properly

Is Mosaic the same as Fraxel?

Same principle and the same 1550 nm wavelength as the original Fraxel re:store: non-ablative fractional columns that remodel the dermis under an intact surface. Mosaic is Lutronic's platform; patients who have had Fraxel elsewhere will recognise the session and the downtime. At Boom Dermatology it is the mid tier of the texture plan.

What does non-ablative mean for my downtime?

That no skin is removed: the columns are coagulated, not vaporised, so there is no open wound, no crust and no peeling, only two to three days of pinkness and a faint roughness under make-up. The trade is a course of sessions rather than one big one.

Can it treat acne scars, or only marks and texture?

Early and shallow rolling scars, yes, over a course; deep pitted or tethered scars, no, and we say so. Those go to Potenza, Scorpio or UltraClear, and our Seomyeon skin clinic reads which scars you have by stretching the skin at the consultation.

Is 1550 nm safe on Asian skin?

With conservative density and energy, yes; it heats below the pigment layer and is used widely on Korean skin. Post-inflammatory darkening is the risk designed around, so settings start low and rise with tolerance, and melasma-prone skin is treated cautiously or on a different tier.

How many sessions until texture changes?

Smoother from the second week after the first; marks and texture reading different in fixed-light photos from the third session; the full course three to five, four weeks apart, with the collagen still building months after the last. Each session is bought one at a time at Boom Dermatology in Busan, or as the five-session course.
