What is Eye XERF, and what does it do?

Eye XERF is the XERF platform with its small eye tip, designed for the thin, mobile skin of the eyelids and the orbital area. Monopolar RF heats the dermis of the upper lid, the lower lid and the crow's-feet zone to the temperature at which collagen contracts, with contact cooling and protective eye shields in place. The eye area is where ultrasound devices cannot be used safely, which makes RF with a dedicated tip the standard non-surgical option for hooded lids and crepey under-eye skin.

At Boom Dermatology in Seomyeon we suggest Eye XERF to patients whose upper lids have started to hood, whose under-eye skin has gone crepey, or who want crow's feet softened without Botox freezing the smile. Downtime after Eye XERF, and flying home

No downtime. Mild pinkness around the eyes for an hour; eye make-up from the next day. Flying the same evening is fine.

Can lifting be done on the eyes at all?

Yes, with radiofrequency and a dedicated eye tip, with protective shields under the lids. Ultrasound devices are not used on the lids because the energy cannot be kept away from the eye; monopolar RF with a small cooled tip can. At Boom Dermatology the eye area is treated only by the doctor and only with the eye tip, never with a face tip pushed close to the lid.

Eye XERF or Eye Thermage: which should I choose?

They do the same thing. Eye Thermage uses the original 0.25 cm² tip with the longest published record, at ₩1,320,000 for 255 shots; Eye XERF uses a newer 4 MHz tip with stronger cooling at ₩1,100,000 for 300 shots. If you want the original, Thermage; if you want the more comfortable session and the lower price, XERF. The doctor will say which suits your lids.

Does it hurt near the eyes?

Less than most patients expect. Numbing cream, cooling on every pulse and the low energy used on lid skin keep it at two to three out of ten at our Seomyeon skin clinic. The shields feel odd for a moment and then are forgotten.

Will it fix my dark circles or hollows?

No. Eye XERF tightens loose lid skin; it does not add volume. Hollows and shadow from volume loss respond to under-eye filler or a booster such as Rejuran I, which can be planned in the same trip, two weeks apart.

How long until I see the result, and how long does it last?

A mild tightening when you leave, then a steady change over three months as collagen rebuilds in the lid skin. Results hold about a year; most patients repeat yearly, often with full-face RF in the same visit.
