Masseter botox units in Busan, and why Korea rarely quotes them.

Western clinics price jaw botox per unit; Korean clinics price it per treatment. That difference confuses every visitor comparing quotes, and it hides the number that actually decides your result. This guide translates between the two.

Patients arriving from the United States, Europe or Australia are used to hearing a unit count and a per-unit price. Korean clinics almost universally quote a treatment price instead, which is cheaper and less transparent about the one number that predicts your result. This guide covers both.

Does This Sound Familiar?

What visitors ask about jaw botox in Korea

  • How many units will I get for the quoted price?
  • Is Korean-brand jaw botox as effective?
  • What if my masseter is unusually large?
  • How long before my face looks narrower?
  • What if it does not work?

All five come up almost every week. This page answers them in order, using the same information our coordinators send over WhatsApp before you fly.

Why Korean clinics quote treatments, not units

A Korean price list states a treatment and a figure — jaw botox in Busan from ₩15,000 with a Korean brand, or ₩139,000 for 50 units of Allergan. Only one of those entries states a unit count, and that is typical across the market.

The reason is procedure volume. Where a clinic performs the same treatment many times a day, a standard dose becomes the default and pricing follows the treatment rather than the milligram. It works well for most patients and it obscures a genuine variable for the minority whose muscle is unusually large or small.

The useful question is not what the price includes but what the dose will be. Ask for the unit count, and expect an honest clinic to give it whether or not the list mentions one.

What decides your dose at our Busan clinic

Masseter dosing at our Busan clinic is decided by muscle bulk, not by face shape or by request.

  • Muscle size on clench — the doctor palpates while you bite, which reveals bulk far better than a resting photograph
  • Symmetry — most faces have a stronger side, and matched dosing produces an uneven result
  • Previous treatment — a muscle treated repeatedly over years is often smaller and needs less
  • Grinding or clenching — patients with bruxism frequently have larger muscles and different goals

Fifty units of Allergan is the published dose at ₩139,000 and suits many patients. A genuinely large masseter may need more, and the honest sequence is to say so before injecting rather than to deliver a standard dose and explain the partial result afterwards.

Korean brands are dosed differently unit-for-unit, which is another reason cross-country unit comparison misleads. What transfers between systems is muscle assessment, not arithmetic.

The published Busan prices and what each includes

Option Brand Price
Jawline · 3 sessions Korean (Newlux) ₩40,000 (₩15,000 each)
Jawline · 3 sessions Korean high-purity (Coretox) ₩99,000 (₩35,000 each)
Jawline · 3 sessions Dysport ₩240,000 (₩90,000 each)
Jawline 50u Allergan ₩139,000
Jawline + salivary or temporal Allergan ₩270,000

The three-session structures are worth understanding. Masseter reduction builds across repeated treatment as the muscle atrophies from disuse, so a three-session package at ₩40,000 is not a discount on one treatment — it is the shape the treatment actually takes for many patients.

The combined option at ₩270,000 treats the masseter alongside a second structure, which matters for the reason covered further down this page.

What happens in Busan if the dose is too low — or too high

Too low

  • The muscle softens partially and the width barely changes
  • Patients conclude the treatment does not work rather than that the dose was short
  • The remedy is straightforward: assess at four to six weeks and top up

Too high

  • Chewing feels weak for several weeks, particularly with tough food
  • In rare cases the smile changes if product diffuses beyond the masseter
  • There is no remedy but time — the effect wears off over three to four months

That asymmetry is why conservative first dosing is the standard at our Busan clinic. Adding at the four-to-six-week review costs a small top-up; removing is impossible. Patients who ask for a stronger first dose are told why the answer is no.

When the width is not muscle at all — the Busan grading

A meaningful number of Busan patients have masseter botox, get a textbook result on the muscle, and remain wider than they expected. The reason is that lower-face width has more than one source.

  • Masseter muscle — bulges and hardens when you clench
  • Parotid salivary gland — sits higher and in front of the ear, unchanged by clenching
  • Bone — the mandible itself, which no injection changes

The self-test takes ten seconds. Clench your teeth and feel just in front of your ear: a firm bulge that appears on biting is muscle; fullness that sits slightly higher and does not change is glandular. Salivary gland botox in Busan at ₩160,000 treats the second, and the combined Allergan option at ₩270,000 treats both.

Bone width is the honest ceiling, and it is named at grading rather than discovered at week eight. Our V-line grading in Busan separates all three shares before anything is injected.

Sessions, duration and planning a trip to Busan

Treatment takes ten minutes with no downtime, which makes it one of the better treatments to have while visiting Busan. The result, however, arrives after you leave.

  • Nothing visible for two to three weeks
  • Narrowing reads through weeks four to six
  • Settled result at week eight, which is the honest verdict point
  • Holds four to six months, often longer with repeat treatment

For visitors that means booking early in a trip achieves nothing that booking on the last day does not — the change happens at home either way. What it does mean is that a follow-up photo at week six matters, and at our Busan clinic that review happens by message rather than requiring a return flight.

All figures on this page appear on the published Busan price list, and the wider comparison sits in our botox cost guide for Busan.

Our Medical Team

Who will actually treat you at JRYN Seomyeon?

A doctor, in person, every time — never a nurse or a coordinator. JRYN Seomyeon has three doctors, and the clinic was founded by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, who still consults here. What you actually need is decided during the consultation after your skin is examined, not from a fixed package chosen in advance.

Three doctors, one standard of care.

Every treatment plan at JRYN Seomyeon is decided and performed in person by one of our doctors — led by Dr. Jeong Heon Lee, founder of JRYN Dermatology.

From the Founder

The consultation is the treatment.

Most patients arrive asking for a specific treatment. My job is to check whether it is the right one for what they actually have. Getting that wrong is the most common mistake I correct.

Questions patients ask first.

It depends on muscle bulk assessed on clench at our Busan clinic. Fifty units of Allergan is the published dose at our Busan clinic and suits many patients; larger muscles need more.

Procedure volume in Busan makes a standard dose the default, so pricing follows the treatment. Ask for the unit count anyway — an honest clinic will give it.

From ₩15,000 per session with Korean brands in a three-session structure, or ₩139,000 for 50 units of Allergan, on a published list.

Masseter reduction builds as the muscle atrophies from disuse. Three sessions is the shape the treatment takes rather than a discount.

Assessed at four to six weeks and topped up. That is why conservative first dosing is standard — adding is easy, removing is impossible.

Excessive dosing can weaken chewing for weeks and rarely affect the smile. Conservative dosing at our Busan clinic exists precisely to avoid this.

The width may be glandular or bone. Clench and feel in front of your ear — fullness that does not change on biting is not muscle.

Nothing for two to three weeks after your Busan session, narrowing through weeks four to six, settled at week eight. Most visitors see it after flying home.
