What is Dysport, and what does it do?
Dysport
(abobotulinumtoxinA, Ipsen) is one of the three long-established imported botulinum toxins, licensed in Europe and the United States for decades. It uses its own unit scale, roughly 2.5 to 3 Dysport units to one conventional unit, and is known for two practical traits: a fast onset, often visible by day two, and a slightly wider diffusion from each injection point. The wider spread is an advantage on broad, flat muscles such as the forehead, the calves or the trapezius, and a reason for care near small muscles such as the mouth corners.
At Boom Dermatology in Seomyeon, Dysport is the brand we suggest for a large forehead with lines across its full width, for patients who want the result to land before an event in a few days, and for body protocols where even coverage across a big muscle matters. For precise small areas we prefer a tighter-spreading toxin. Units are converted and written on your record in both scales so a clinic at home can read them.

Questions, answered properly
Why does Dysport use different units?
Because potency units are defined per product by its own assay, not by an international standard. A Dysport unit is smaller, so a forehead that takes 15 conventional units takes roughly 40 to 45 Dysport units for the same effect. It is not more toxin; it is a different ruler. At Boom Dermatology the dose is written on your record in Dysport units with the conventional equivalent beside it.
Is Dysport faster than other toxins?
Slightly. Many patients see the first change by day two or three rather than day four or five, with the full effect at two weeks like every toxin. If you have an event in five days, it is the brand we reach for.
Is the wider spread good or bad?
Both, depending on the area. On a broad forehead or a calf it means smoother, more even coverage from fewer points. Next to the muscles that control your smile or lift your brow it means more care is needed, and the doctor at our Seomyeon skin clinic either doses conservatively or chooses a tighter-spreading brand for those points.
Which areas is Dysport best for?
Forehead, crow's feet across a wide area, calves, trapezius and underarm sweating. For the glabella it works well at the right dose. For mouth corners and chin we usually use another brand.
Is it authentic Ipsen product?
Yes. Sealed, MFDS-imported Ipsen packaging opened in front of you; brand and lot on your record.
