Will chin filler give me a V-line?
It gives the point of the V. A V-line is a narrow jaw plus a defined chin; filler supplies the chin, and if the jaw is wide from muscle, jaw Botox
supplies the narrowing. Many patients at Boom Dermatology have both in one visit, Botox first. If the jaw is wide from bone, filler on the chin still sharpens the profile, but the width stays.
Why does such a small volume change the profile so much?
Because the chin is a lever. One cc on the bone moves the point of the chin a few millimetres forward, and a few millimetres at the front of the face changes the angle of the whole profile, the apparent size of the nose and the length of the neck. It is the best value per cc in filler, which is why we suggest it first.
Where does filler stop and surgery begin?
Filler handles up to roughly four or five millimetres of projection and a modest increase in length, dissolvably. Beyond that, or when the bite is affected, a chin implant or genioplasty is the honest answer, and the doctor at our Seomyeon skin clinic will say so and not stack syringes.
Will it make my face look longer or horsey?
Not when the direction is chosen from your profile. A short face gets length; a long face gets projection only. The doctor shows you on your own photo which your chin needs, and one cc at a time makes it impossible to overshoot.
