Seomyeon sits at the centre of Busan, where two Busan subway lines meet, and it functions as the city's main commercial and entertainment district. The medical concentration developed alongside that rather than separately — clinics took floors in the same buildings as shops, restaurants and offices.

The practical consequence is that Seomyeon Medical Street is not a street in the way visitors expect. It is a district of several blocks in which a large number of clinics occupy the third to tenth floors of ordinary buildings, with ground floors given over to retail.

• Language — whether the doctor consults directly or through a coordinator

• From Gimhae International Airport — roughly forty minutes by taxi, or the light rail connecting to the subway
• From Busan Station — two subway stops on Line 1
• By subway — Seomyeon Station sits on Lines 1 and 2, with numbered exits leading to different blocks
• By taxi — show the Korean address rather than the romanised one; drivers navigate by Korean text
